GM orders to stop selling new pick up trucks

eh, the 7.3 International "Power Stroke" in my 96 F-350 was certainly not junk.

On the other hand the 250 horse Cats in the Freightliners we drive at work are garbage.
I wish I could go back in time to buy this same rig in a 4X4 crew cab.

That's what I had. Long bed, crew cab, manual 5 speed. Only bad thing about that rig was the stupid ass front axle. That thing ate tires. The only way to fix it is to line it up and weld some 1/2" bar stock on the spindles to keep them from toeing out.

Good to know if I ever get lucky to get one.

Fortunately, we have some excellent diesel pickup shops here locally that are likely aware of that.

We still have a lot of 90's era rigs around here since they last along time due to the lack of salt on the roads in the winter, compared to back east.

"We can confirm a small number of Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups may have been built with a roof panel split defect. A stop-sale is in place as the impacted vehicles are identified and repaired."
It has nothing to do with a "design mistake" or an "engineering" flaw. It has everything to do with a quality control failure due to a defective part being installed. An engineering flaw would be the Takata Air Bag inflators using ammonium-nitrate-based propellant without a chemical drying agent.

that's why so many very old Toyotas have gone well over 200,000 miles (or more) and still are sought after when for sale.

not only that, but so many "foreign car companies" have factories here in the states, employing thousands of your fellow Americans, supporting thier families, and communities.

why do you suppose many American companies "partnered" with the Japanese..??

cuz many American car makers...produced......."worthless pieces of crap", that MADE Americans migrate to the foreign car makers, for thier dependability, and longevity.....

I have three Toyota Tundra trucks in my stable, two were built in Indiana, one was built in Texas.
The Hoosier built trucks are about to hit 200,000 miles, the Texas built truck is at 315,000 miles.
All are excellent trucks... all three were purchased used.

I think there is something wrong with my old truck, engine is making a horrible noise.

yes, yes it is making a horrible noise.

my best guess would be the fluffenator valve is sticking to the whozeewhatsits refurberator plate, and as a result, the AM/FM radio is picking up radio signals from the planet Zorbon, and what you are hearing is actually a communique between 3 homeless pet rocks.

Should I be worried that that makes sense to me?
