Got my insurance bill

Covering losses costs money. With materials cost over the past few years (before Mr T got into office, haters) going up, insurance is naturally going to go up. Pro Tip-if your company also writes in California and such nonsense, their rates in not Cali are going to go up too. A company like Shelter Insurance is worth a look because they don't write in super high risk areas. If you live in a "high risk" area, it is going to go up. And all insurance companies play the odds

We have lived in Florida more than 40 years. I understand how risk works, but I am talking about a $3000 INCREASE here. That's $3k right off the top of my income in addition to what I was already paying. I am 30 miles from the Gulf, over 100 ft in elevation and my house is built to handle 150 mph winds. We are being robbed. I am thinking about moving to Nebraska.

From Farm Bureau. A 30% increase. Boy am I steamed. We are being robbed.
not just you
words cannot describe my anger
i called around to all the players and could find better car rates, but then i had to get a house policy and rv policy from another vendor and that added up to more than farm bureau
texas needs to start putting peoples car in the impound for no DL or insurance, no more tickets and letting them drive off.

1 house, 3 vehicles and a bus(40 footer) and one 24 year old GIRL
5200 6 months before discounts, after its 3650...OHHHH the savings

I hear your pain HayesGreener. I was with USAA Insurance. Yeah right. Here for the Vet. After paying through several policy increases I sent my insurance out for pricing. Of all things-AAA saved me a ton. However I will say after they renewed the policy after a 6 month term the policy went up about 12%. It pays to not think you’re getting the best deal from the insurance company you’ve been dealing with for a long time. Get out there and get quotes.

Dang! That does seem like not only a lot but a criminal lot! All I can realistically offer is come to Missouri. You will have a huge property cost advantage.
But Nebraska still has Mardi Gras...

Even though the government pays more than the insurance does for disasters the insurance companies still increase the rates w/o a claim. Highway robbery for sure as their (insurance companies) investments don't pay off. Sounds like a bad gambler losing all their money and getting paid for losses by the government in handouts.

From what I’m hearing is there are companies starting up that have no under writers and you pay directly to the same insurance company without the middleman that depending on the company adds up to 80% to the insurance cost.
The bottom line is that many of the owners of insurance agencies are making millions of dollars for just doing simple paperwork.
They are in the business of making money for shareholders. Protecting your property is secondary, just something they have to do to get the money.

As far as auto insurance one reason for the increase is they (insurance companies as a whole) total vehicles at a higher rate than they did years ago. It use to be like 80% of damage or the cost of the vehicle but is much lower now.

That was from an insurance watch group guy on Americas First News with Gordon Deal I listen to in the mornings.

Which what I wonder if they donut because it’s “cheaper” for them why is my auto rates increasing with no wrecks no tickets nothing???!

The 1945 The McCarran-Ferguson Act. makes Insurance companies all but exempt from anti-trust laws. Gee Thanks. In the grand scheme of things insurance co. fall somewhere above politicians and below whale poo.

I too left USAA. I don't know whether or not you noticed, but when I used to call USAA for something, they always started the conversation off with "Thank you for being a customer for 39 years Mr. XXXXX. How can we be of service today?" Now you get someone that pretty much has a take it or leave it attitude when you call for a quote. I had USAA for 1 home, 3 vehicles, 2 motorcycles, and a separate liability rider for over 39 years with only ONE claim in all of those years for an accident that wasn't my fault. Then USAA started to nickel and dime me to death so I left. I went to Stillwater. So far (3 years), they have been like USAA used to be. Plus if you pay your annual premium in one shot, they give a pretty significant discount. The funny part is I still receive the USAA annual profit sharing. Even if you leave, apparently you are still a member.

Nothing is bad enough to move to Nebraska.

They’ve been jacking our rates up due to Florida hurricanes for about 15 years now. My flood insurance is now more than double what my homeowners is.
