Gun Cleaning and Lubrication ~ Beware the Lie!

I have been using Shooter's Lube for the last several months. The solvent has no smell, neither does the oil. I haven't had any issues with any of the pistols I've used them on. We have Hoppe's CLP and some other stuff in the shop, but I can use this stuff at the kitchen table without choking. It works for me so far, but I have an open mind..

When I was still working, for every training day or qualification day, I'd bring my own lube with me -just to induce eye-twitch spasms from the range officers......

First, I am glad to see I am not the only one that would rather read then watch a vidoe

As for Hoppes, I LOVE the smell and the price is right

But, when we have our duty weapons armored yearly (Glock G45), I have been told to stop using Hoppes. It get's really gummed up and they have to spend a lot of time getting all the excess gunk out that collects in the Hoppes. I was told to only use Hoppes for the barrel. At their recommendation, I have switched over to M Pro 7

We get armored at the first week of January, we'll see if it's any better

I also started trying this brand a couple months ago when I saw it on sale. So far, so good, but only used on a few guns so far (that have all performed flawlessly). This includes the PPK/S, which is all uncoated stainless, which presents challenges of its own. No galling yet! It also seems the solvent cleans better, but that could also be a result of using the lubricant/preservative prior to shooting. 🤷‍♂️

And I’m with you 1000% about being able to clean/lubricate guns without feeling like I (and my family) should be wearing a respirator!

i have had no issues with Hoppes getting "gummed up"..

but then, i keep the Hoppes in a spray bottle, and i spray the Hoppes onto a patch at the end of the cleaning rod, and not dipping it into the bottle....

Don't know why, but I bought a little bottle of nail polish remover at Publix (store brand). Dumped it out and filled it with Hoppe's. It has a snap top and when open, there is a plunger. Put the patch on it, press down and just a small amount of Hoppe's comes out. I don't dip either.
