I got this in my email today. I don't know if the site is legit or not, but thought I would throw it out there. I'm reluctant to buy some foreign guns, but my head can turn at bargain prices. I've been thinking about thinning the herd lately, so I'm gonna delete the email.

I know its part of Beretta / Benelli , but wait for it …..

Get what you pay for. Stoeger will perform like a Sccy and hi point

So I actually know the people that run gunprime, they also own Birmingham Pistol Wholesale. They are a couple doors down from my shop. When you say the name Johnny Walker and BPW to any gun sales rep in the country they know who that is. They buy guns by the truck load. You know when I talk about gunstores and the pecking order of who gets what, BPW/Gunprime is an apex predator.

A friend of mine ( my boss at work actually) has a Stoeger over/under and the ventilated rib has broken off the barrel at one of the attachment points. He has asked me to fix it for him and frankly I am A) not sure how to go about it ( tig weld, braze, etc. ) and B) not sure the gun is worth the trouble or cost of someone with more experience with that sort of thing to fix. He really likes the gun though.

Ha. I'm actually thinking about cutting a piece of sheet silver soldier and sliding it under the post with some flux and heating it up with a gas torch. I don't really want to reblue the barrel. My other thought was Gorilla Glue.

Local gunsmiths get about $290 to replace the rib and blue the barrel. The gun isn't worth that probably.

I frequently see Stoeger pistols advertised at low prices, but I don't know anyone who has purchased one. I've come close to buying a Stoeger Coach Gun several times, but I've never followed through. I think the Coach Guns are manufactured in Brazil, but that may have only been the older guns. The Turks seem to be making everybody's low-price shotguns these days.

now, you'll have to say, you don't want to ever buy a gun from here......

I had one I bought when they first came out. wasn't super reliable but I really only ran 4 mags and put it in the safe. Sold it in a package deal for some kid wanting some 22 semis I have. Was a comfortable gun to hold. Capacity was nice. I didn't notice any real corner cutting on the one I had. Probably would have done better had I run more ammo through it. Would be worth that price if it ran.
