The irony for me was that I have maintained my permit the whole time in Texas and it was my permit that allowed for my ability to carry. One of the quirky rules; no issue with me carrying in my vehicle (rental inc.) or if I needed to get out to change a tire. Walk half a mile down the highway carrying to a station for help that's a violation. Was also not required to produce said license.
