Guns - Level of Importance

Master Class
In the grand scheme of things, there are many things that occupy my thoughts. Mostly thoughts of God and my Savior, but my wife is a close 2nd to that. Family as well.

Beyond that, what place do guns and gun-related stuff take in your mind?

For me, it's gotta be 3rd or 4th on my list. I wear a gun all day, every day, and my desk at my home office occupies the space right next to my reloading table. It is nearly ever-present for me.

What about you?

family first, always, then me, house, cars, bills,.....guns are further down, but not below neighbors, and not below the mailman...and not below the pizza delivery guy/gal either.

so i'd say, "in the middle"

if you lived where i do..??

you'd see why neighbors don't rank high with me.......

Think its pretty much alife style for most here, but my guns get sold before I let my wife or mother live on the street or starve... there are levels of importance sometimes. And I agree it's not even a competition.

Just my view.

Saying this as I put my P365xl in the holster to leave for a Detroit Dr's visit for wife. So yes, very important.

I understand the question even if I don’t see the point. If you have to choose between having a gun and your wife you have problems that can’t be solved by either.

It's a hobby. But I am wondering how you can spend so much time thinking about so few things?
This is where I will disagree with you on owning guns is a hobby, to a few, yea, vast majority use them for there livelihood, to put food on the table, and definitely for self defense purposes. A hobby is model trains, collecting stamps and such.

The more important things to me are my wife and kids. Taking care of our needs. I consider anything to do with firearms partly hobby, partly defensive needs. I have guns for fun, and guns for defense. I guess you could also consider them tools. But something higher than firearms for me would be our vehicles. I need my truck, and my wife needs her suv for work purposes. But as a hobby, I like to tinker and trick out my vehicles. But having reliable transportation kind of is on a higher list of importance than firearms. I type this at my home desk that has a .45 stashed away in one of the drawers. And I have a lot of other hideout guns around the house. But I only have one truck and one suv! lol

Family, dogs, home, shop and tools. Guns have always been an integral part of my life since I was a boy, for hunting, for sport, for duty, for training, for defense of home and family. When I wake and get dressed, wallet, phone, knife, and keys into pockets, pistol at 3 O'Clock and magazines at 9. This I have done for 55 years. Guns have always been woven into all aspects of my life so I can't separate them out. My collection consists of 14 handguns I carried for duty, my Dad's old .410, my hunting and competition guns, a few I inherited, a few I use for training others, a few for defense of home and family, a few I just think are cool, and one I carry every day. All have purpose and meaning for me, I can tell my life's history with them, and they will endure for many years after I am gone.

My passion for my guns is like everything else I am passionate about in my life. I strive to do everything I am passionate about an extremely high level, but I’m quite serious when I say I could easily turn my back on my guns and lose zero sleep. I dictate my path, not anything or anyone else.

Btw, I write this as a sit in a cinema with a P07 strapped to my side.

Yeah right.

They're a thing I enjoy and value for fun, protection if need be, for mental health, and socially. Going out to the range with some buddies or showing my aspergers-afflicted nephew how to use a rifle makes for a great time. The kid loves it and asks to go out with his dad and me a lot. Plus the history and memories of my uncles and dad teaching me to use rifles and shotguns, the first successful bird hunt, my grandpas bringing their trophies from 1940s Pacific and European theaters to my high school to give presentations in history class, a way to focus on something and block out the weight of handling business for people dying from corporate malfeasance or the families of the recently dead. I don't have a numbered list but they are highly valued.
