Handgun cleaning rods....

Which type of cleaning rod do you prefer to clean your handguns? I use a Dewey coated rod myself.

Never gave it much thought really.

i have cleaned pistols for 20years

just the standard metal rods and brass brush in the kits

I have the OTIS complete cleaning kit with brass brushes and coated cables of varying lengths all with brass fittings at their ends. It works for me.

I have all of them but prefer the coated ones. So there is no extra wear on the crown of the barrel.

These days I mostly use bore snakes and just whatever came in the $9 Outer's kit.

I never have used steel. I own aluminum, brass, and coated. If I have to clean from the muzzle, I use a bore guide.

i use the cheap plastic one that came with some Glock from the past. Plastic won’t stretch anything and they are only going 6” max. I use a bore snake on my rifles.

I use bronze brush/rod & #9 ..... paper towel cleaning patches and then a final mop.
No lube in the barrel unless going to storage.

I am testing out the ‘Ramrodz’ product and ‘Bore Tips’ product. I have to admit I like them both. The bore tips fit tightly in the barrel, so I feel like it is really doing a good job of cleaning. One of the problems with the Ramrodz product is that I don’t think they are uniform in size because some of them will not fit in the barrel. But they clean well if you happen to find the one that fits. Also, they each have a way to connect to a longer rod for rifles and shotguns. The bore tips are reusable, by that I mean they can be cleaned and then used again. Worth a try.
