Handguns: Fiber-Optic or Night Sights?

No one can predict when, where and how what may be the worst day of your life will occur. Plan for the worst...night sights if only for the front sight.

I often hear naysayers of night sights say something to the effect of, "if it's too dark to see your sights, it's too dark to identify your target." And while that may be true - if it's actually that dark, that ignores how useful night sights can be for quick sight acquisition in low light conditions where non-illuminated sights are slower to pick up and align. It doesn't have to be pitch black for night sights to be useful.
To that I say, you should be able to clearly see all blacked out or 3 dot sights if it's 12pm in the afternoon on a bright sunny day. Yet, competition shooters and the general consensus amongst gun owners is that fiber optic sights STILL help pick up the sights faster.

The same is true for night sights. Even if you can make out regular sights in the low light conditions, night sights will help you pick up the sights a lot faster vs standard sights in low light than the difference between using standard sights vs fiber optic sights in the daylight.

The "Old Guys" at Wilson Combat both agree that night sights are good for locating your pistol on top of the night stand in the darkness.

Do they smoke Marijuana?
Eh, no. Well, I imagine some of the younger ones might. The ones my age and my parents age don't. My dad's uncle Joe was a tribal elder in the Cherokee Nation. He was a WWII hero and re-enlisted for Korea. He was most proud of getting the Three Rivers Medical Facility built though. One of the finest Indian hospitals in the country. And free to all Cherokee.
