Same trouble happening here in the closest city to us. Wen someone walked in a house and shot a 16 yr old girl. Tues a 13 yr old girl was savagely raped by a 16 yr old boy. Used to be kids were raised right & went to church twice a week. That's all I'm going to say, I'm done for the night..

When I was an SRO at the high school I graduated from, I had a kid I fully intended to charge with extortion, conspiracy to commit extortion, and a few other things, bear I mind this was 15 year old.
My command staff wouldn't let me charge the maximum charges as we did with adults, so by comparison he got much lesser charges, and basically there were no consequences at the juvenile level.
Fast forward two years and he's in the custody of the sheriff's department for a slew of felonies to include discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling, among others.
Then the state (with King Roy Coopers pressure on the legislature) changed the law from 16 years old to be charged as an adult, to 18. You can imagine effect that's had.....

Unless you're next to it! In 5th grade I was looking out the window and I saw it strike the playground equipment (or might have been the ground) and made a very loud BOOM (seamed instantaneous). Everyone screamed and I laughed my butt off watching everyone else jump and scream. Strike was within 100' of the classroom.

We had a lightning strike in the yard a couple years ago, one of the famous New England thunderstorm. I've been around 155mm howitzers, had a FAMAS fired next to my head without proper earplugs and that explosion was far worse. The complete disorientation, something I can only describe as "seeing colors in your head" if that make sense to anyone was phenomenal. Impressive force of nature.

Although Louisville KY is no where near the issues of some other larger cities we have one or multiple shootings/murders every day/night.
Luckily Louisville has no gun free zones or I honestly believe it would be worse.
The problem I see is the drug trade and turf wars.

These misunderstood juveniles with no job were just on their way to bible school the gun was for protection, at least that's what their mama's say.
media uses a picture with their cap and gown and with governor flintstone and his SAFE-T-Act there is in most instances no bail anyway.

JMHO. By the time someone is a teenager, if they don't know right from wrong, they never will. That don't mean young people don't do stupid things and can change with maturity. If someone's old enough to commit an adult crime, they are old enough to do adult time, but NOT time with adults.

I’ve spent 20 years around inner city street gangs they don’t care, they have no fear and have been in more fights and shootings than many veterans not to mention the average CCW carrier.
And they are starting younger and younger each year.
Until families stop breaking up and they stop outsourcing their day care (if they even have someone watching the kids) this spiral will continue!
While the below study is about Cop killers the mentality of the actors are the same as those that attack anyone!

Had lightning strike a tree I was standing by, say 5 or 6 yards away. It was like the finger of God just blew me over and maybe out not sure Laid there a while to try to get my senses back got up and brushed off bark from the tree and put out the fire. Three days later I could hear again.

I could believe all these except the shoot more accurately part. No way hood rats are taking gun courses and no way they are paying range fees. The practice they get is either committing crimes/shootings or walking around the city shooting stray dogs and other crap. And with ammo prices the last 2 years I don't think they're doing much shooting for fun or practice. Certainly not as much as most of us do.
That part of it may apply to cop killers that aren't regular street thug, hood rat punks.
