Hard to believe this was real life

Just an aside, but I got curious about just what I had for ammo in the old 'stick it back for a rainy day' box, so I dug down deep to look. I found one box of "SuperX" 30/06 so old most of the lettering on the box is worn off. About 1/2 box left of factory ammo. No price marked on it but I can guess it's somewhere south of $10.00. Also found a whole, full box of "Hornady" 30/06. Again the box has been around for awhile, but it still has 20 rounds in it and is marked at $9.90.

Won't even make a guess as to how many years I've had them, but I can tell you they were probably put into 'hold' mode when I got my first .270 rifle. That would have been probably in the early 70's. I'm thinkin' it was my Mod 760 Remington pump gun. Really liked that gun but was forced to sell it at one point to feed my family (and me too). After that bought a Mod 700 Remington Classic (probably 1982) and still have that one today.

As it stands right now, I have two .270's (a Remington and an Encore), and two 30/06's (a Browning semi and a Sako Finbear). Don't shoot either of them much anymore. Probably ought to get them out and shoot 'em before they seize up...... pretty much like me. LOL! LOL!

I actually made that argument to a friend yesterday. He was talking about investing in precious metals. I recommended, only half jokingly, that he invest in ammunition instead. It'd be a great bartering item if things every got really bad, and it's function would certainly be useful as well.

My brother in law gave me a Smith And Wesson t-shirt last night. It says invest in precious metals. American steel. With a picture of a revolver on it. It's 100% cotton, very comfortable and the only t-shirt I own with a gun or gun related company on it.

It’ll go back down, and some will be dancing in the streets when they’re paying $29.99.
but we’ll never see what it was 20 yrs ago or even last year, again...

Funny thing is, the 3 zillion new gun owners - or however many - from the last year or so will never know the diff.
There will also likely be 1.5 zillion gun owners who want to sell their guns and ammo before too long. I'm kinda hoping they don't understand that guns don't lose much value and sell them CHEAP!

CHEAP? Selling unused, unwanted firearms is better than having them sitting around in the hands of unqualified unwanting users and especially waiting around for youngsters possibly hurting themselves and others.....that cost is the real one they may be seeking? That one's never cheap. Can usually always find another gun? The other? Not so much, not ever.

Personally, am hoping more and more people appreciate, own and enjoy firearms, their responsibilities and use them in a safe responsible manner. As a general rule, found firearms type people, gun owners, more responsible, considerate and courteous than many others who don't personally own firearms.
