An interesting note that some of the components including all of the barrels for the 16 inch guns For all the battle ships were made at the Naval Ordinance plant in Louisville Kentucky which is now known as
BAE Systems. I worked for BAE for four years as the 2nd shift Facilities manager. During that time we continued to make the Mark45 and Mark38 guns. We also built propulsion cavitation components and missile tubes for the Virginia Class submarine.
