Hellcat extra part or (?)

While dry firing a brand new Hellcat with snap caps, I ejected the first snap cap by cycling the slide. The snap cap ejected along with a plastic part, See attached pix. It measures around 1" at its widest point and 3/8" on the short side.

The part doesn't appear in the breakdown, at least as far as I can see. The snap caps continue to eject fine after firing.

Does anyone have any idea of what this is?

Thanks,

John

@xdman or Springfield customer service is your best bet on that question.

there is a part number molded into that plastic, can you read it and jot it down for us here to look up..??

ok, the top number is...4

for 469197 or...4-69197

there isn't any parts numbers booklet online to look up this part number.

i didn't get one of those parts out of my Hellcat.

might have just been something placed there by the overseas factory to maybe hold the shape of the gun either as it was molded or packed for shipping..??

i dunno..

you can always call SA, and explain it to them, maybe mail it to them...??

maybe it is the "prize" they hand out for the 1 millionth unit sold.??

maybe it's a prize that you take with you for a tour of the chocolate factory..????

i dunno buddy.......

it's my nap time........

Thanks for trying. Yes, there is a '4' on a separate line above 69197. It kinda looks like it might be part of a magazine, not the Hellcat ones I have. It looks like it would go between the magazine body and base plate. I've got an email into SA support.

Sorry Did not see this thread, not a part of the pistol. Are you 100% this came out of the pistol? Something that big would not allow the slide to close let alone with a snap cap.

could be when the snap cap ejected, it landed near that piece, making him think it came out of the gun as well. no way would that even fit inside the gun, if he also had the magazine in there too.

this is why i retired from being a mechanic, and got into trucking..i hated solving puzzles.

Nothing on the bench. I suspect the plastic part is similar to magazines end cap assemblies. I suspect Hellcat and non-Hellcat mags are manufactured in the same place and it could have easily become wedged in the Hellcat mag. While it is not a Hellcat part, it was probably wedged in the magazine I was using and I didn’t notice it since I was using a mag loader, the snap cap went in on top of it. When I ejected the snap cap after firing, the plastic piece came out after the snap cap ejected.

Shame on me for not more carefully examining the mag first.
