Hellcat OSP front site is dead

Everybody just breath. He expressed his frustration. dingode here is a perspective that may help. I worked for Mossberg for 5 years between 2010-2015 no pandemic.
During those 5 years we produced and shipped close to 500 thousand guns a year in various models. Also In inventory we had at any given time 10-15 thousand guns that were assembled waiting for a part or accessories to be completed and shipped. Keep in mind these guns were sold.
We also had close to 200-300 warranty and customer returns a week. Besides my regular duties of running the wood room my job was to ensure when parts came in from outside vendors how many of those parts would go to warranty repair, assembly and guns in inventory waiting for a part. It was a juggling act.
Fast forward to now and throw in a world wide pandemic. Every company is working in panic mode.
Springfield is one of the best in there customer service returns and I’m betting they are dealing with the same issues.
 
I don't assume that I'm the only customer. You know what assuming does. But still, 2 to 4 weeks to change out a front sight is a bit on the excessive side.
I can agree with you on this 4 weeks is definitely excessive for such a small repair on a new gun but 2 weeks is not unheard of for repairs from any brand and seems to be almost the normal standard. There's nothing worse then having a new gun that needs to be fixed then having to wait for it. I had a brand new Mini-14 that would stove pipe almost every round and that got turned around in 2 weeks. And a couple other guns I sent out the past 2 years had a similar turnaround time. Keep in mind that there is the possibility of delays do to Covid-19 shutdowns and short staffing related to that.

I think it will turn out in his favor Springfield Armory Customer service have some of the best people working in the industries
 
@dingode it has been my experience with customer service that the told time for service work is just an allotted time. It has never been the stated time given but more or less to cover their end. If they said 1 week and it wasn’t that then it would turn into a big deal of “you told me this and you lied” they give theirselves some “cushion” I don’t foresee it being the told time but with this pandemic going on who knows.
 
Finally got my Hellcat OSP Thursday 5/27. Took it home for a thorough cleaning and lube after reading the manual as it was raining all day. Friday was a rainout too but Saturday looked good as far as the weather so I loaded up some range ammo and put the Hellcat on my nightstand at bedtime looking forward to shooting Saturday. It was then that I noticed the front sight was dead. I decided against shooting on Saturday and will be calling Customer Service on Monday. I know I'll have to send the slide back for the repair. This is my first Springfield purchase (I own many other brands) but I realize that things like this sometimes happen and no one is at fault for a "dud" part as it was not noticeable with the lights on, as I'm sure they are assembled in the light. Still love my Hellcat and looking forward to having it at the range soon.

I could say the same thing about magpul parts, but a mass produced part sometimes gets overlooked? The company that makes it says "It worked before it was shipped" and the company that installed it might not have checked it? My suggestion would be to check it before filling out the paperwork! I have trying too get a correct part from bushnell for quite some time(3 years+) and during this time they stopped producing that model. Time still keeps moving!

Sorry to hear about your sight! Springfield Customer Service is among the best in the industry I am sure they will resolve your problem as quickly as possible. I have owned many handguns in my lifetime and the little HELLCAT is among the best. The accuracy of this little thing is phenomenal! I have run about 500 rounds of ball ammo through it and at 25' I can keep 14 shots inside a 2" circle consistently. I can't wait until Springfield Armory has the Shield micro red dot sights back in stock. I purchased 5 extra 13 round magazines

Good advice Texas for Life. I did a thorough field strip check of the Hellcat before the paperwork and everything seemed fine. I did not expect faulty tritium on a brand new gun. There was no dark space at my ffl and the sight looked fine there. I also did not notice at home until I turned the lights off. The only reason I knew then that something was wrong is that I had shot a friend's Hellcat in low light and his sight was much brighter where mine was totally dead. Never had a problem with any other firearm I purchased. I always do a field strip check on any firearm I buy. Stuff happens!
 
Try cupping your hand over the sight? Maybe the purchase and then a warranty claim is faster than a 2nd new one with a potentially same/another problem?

Realize that it doesn’t glow in bright light.

Take it in a dark room that has no light source (a closet is a good choice) and see if there is illumination...

If nothing, contact Springfield; the lamp is defective.

I just got my Hellcat OSP and maybe I'm just expecting too much for such a small tritium vial, but I'm pretty sure it's dead. In total darkness, there is nothing there. That little barely-there dot you can see below my index finger is the front sight. Truthfully, I couldn't even see it when I took the picture, so my phone's camera is better than my eyes. I know a dead tritium vial happens with these sights, so I'm not super upset, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had an issue?

I had a LONG wait to get this thanks to our illustrious postal system and I really don't want to have to ship it in for a front sight. I've never dealt with Springfield CS, do you think they'd ship me the sight to install myself?
Have not 1, but 2 Hellcats, BOTH tritium sites broke in less than 5 magazines of use!! There's a defect according to Springfield. I would never buy another. The sites were one of the reasons I made these purchase but if I can't get 5 magazines through 2 different Hellcats, what good is it. Took 6 weeks for them to replace the first one, now I'm sending another back and still have no idea how long the replacement will last. They should have recalled these. I'm infuriated and thoroughly dissatisfied. I should have just stuck with my Sig P365. Not ever a problem.
