HELLCAT POI PROBLEM...

Unless a person is 100% ambidextrous shooting with the non-dominant hand is always totally different so it's really not a logical way to say just swich hands to compare how a pistol itself is shooting. We all know how different we shoot with the opposite hand.

The issue is the user is handling a different pistol and therefore getting different results than what he/she is usd to with another pistol. The user must adapt to the new pistol.

Actually it is, if it is a good shooter right and left hand the impacts will be the same and if the shooter is still hitting low left then you could reasonably deduce that sights are indeed off. If the shooter is bad then instantly it will prove the point that it is the shooter that is the problem....not the gun. Since miraculously the bad shooter was hitting in one area then now shooting with a “unfamiliar“ hand the impacts move. Now if you read the the OP’s target his impacts are in the same area which means he is at least consistent with the error. The second observation is that the target distance was so close you don't even need sights to hit the target. At a few feet he would need the sights comically adjusted to make up for that bias. Now before you say I am wrong, remember that I have changed and adjusted the sights on Springfield polymer pistols more than anyone outside of SA. I have this same conversation with customers multiple times a day. Proving to a customer and getting them to admit that they are the reason they are shooting bad is just as important as adjusting sights Hence shoot it left handed see that the impacts move. Then lets try to adjust the shooter to correct the trigger pull With the dominant hand.

I find that the squared grip rotates in my hand as I crush the grip. i think those high tech pyramids were working against me. I've tried a Talon grip and that helps a lot. But I think the grip is still just a little too small for me

Interesting thing to me is that I could not see it happening until I put a red dot on it. At first i thought the RDS was broken as it would just drift left.

I think the geometry/size of the grip and the size of my hand just don't match. I was just about to order a second a Talon grip to put over top of the first and I had a thought to check if Hogue had finally come out with grip for the Hellcat and they have. I have one of those on order, we'll see how that works.

Also I'll note that mine has a real hard break on the trigger. That can lead you pull down a little. IMHO, on a heavy trigger a super crisp break is harder to shoot than one that slides through the break a little.

When I first got my Hellcat, all my groups were low and left as a righthanded shooter. A little tightening of the grip and it put them all on target. IMO..............the bigger your hands, the more pronounced this is on a sub compact gun. I saw it on my XDs when I first bought it but more so on the Hellcat. Just speculating but the Hellcat is lighter and has less barrel.
Now my experiance was at a distance of 30 feet. The OP was much closer so I wouldn't rule out an issue with the gun.
To the Original Poster, when you get your HC back, please update the group on SA's findings and thanks for posting!

My hands also seem to be a little large for the Hellcat. But being a micro it’s understandable. I got an email from Hogue about the Hellcat grip preorder and jumped on it. Hopefully they will ship soon.

Hi Matt,

With all due respect, I do not see a problem. The Hellcat is a belly gun. It's not a competition handgun.

Try point shooting it at 10', w/o sights, and observe outcome.

BTW, Matt, all of my Springfield 1911-A1s have standard factory sights. They're all dead on balls accurate (an industry term that I've plagiarized from Monalisa Vito of My Cousin Vinny").

I had a bad crush on Monalisa for a long time .............. she was a hell of a car gal too !!!!

I received the Hogue grip sleeve today. USPS for the win!
Only took a few minutes to put on. Most of that is gently warming the sleeve to make it more pliable.
Fits like it should and totally changes the feel of the gun. Just what i wanted and it fits my hand much better. It makes the grip a little thicker and more rounded, it feels more "natural" now.
I don't know when my next range trip will be to see if helps my shooting or not.

would love to see a picture. I had jammed a randome hogue grip with finger grooves on my hellcat. Grip is much better, but should pick the hellcat one up since it has the tail.

Here you go.
Texture on the magazine is Talon Grips rubberized.
Sig Romeo Zero and an Olight Mini Valkyrie.

HI GUYS, SO I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW HELLCAT TUESDAY OF LAST WEEK, TOOK IT TO THE RANGE OVER THE WEEKEND TO SHOOT IT. SHOT GREAT AND GROUPED GREAT, BUT THE POI WAS WAYYYY OFF FROM MY POA. BELOW IS A PIC OF MY TARGET. THIS IS ONLY 5 YARDS AWAY. I WAS AIMING CENTER OF RED BULLS EYE JUST BELOW THE TOP OF THE WHITE OUTLINE. HAD OTHER SHOOTERS SHOOT IT WITH SAME RESULTS. THE FURTHER YOU WENT BACK THE WORST IT GOT. LIKE I SAID THIS TARGET WAS JUST 5 YARDS AWAY... I THEN TOOK MY M&P SHEILD AND SHOT FROM 7 YARDS AND POA WAS DEAD ON WITH POI. IVE ALREADY SENT IT BACK TO SPRINGFEILD TO SEE WHATS GOING ON. I DONT KNOW IF ITS THE SIGHTS OR BARREL FITMENT. IDK. I DIDNT GET A TEST FIRE SHEET EITHER LIKE I DID WITH MY XD. JUST WONDER IF AYONE ELSE HAS SEEN OR HAD THIS ISSUE. BECAUSE AT 5 YARDS IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS WAY OFF AT ALL. THANKS FOR THE HELP.View attachment 11916
I know I'm late but oh well I'm dealing with the same issue in 2021 me and my friend went and got ourselves hellcats for our first carry pistol and we aren't **** shots but I've noticed we aren't hitting where we are aiming and i used my home gun a sar Cm9 and i was hitting where i was aiming. I was wondering if the ammo could be the issue maybe something lighter than a 115gr which is what we were using.

I'll reiterate what some others have said. Shoot it off a bench rest. Make sure it's the gun and not you before seeking other solutions.

Low, left of target is generally user grip needs adjustment. Is fairly common with new gun for user. Hold gun differently in grip is suggestion. Compensate using chart Talyn provided. Is a good guide.

"Compensators" aren't just for on end of barrel. Compensation's also used on grip. Watch a Hickock45 video sometime, he's good at sight compensation. Usually, no matter who's gun, new gun or whatever gun, likely even a green gun , he's generally on target most every time because he generally compensates for previous shot. It take time and repetition to learn and get "bugs out." Usually best to get used to firing new gun before an actual iron sight adjustment.

I had the exact problem with my Hellcat RDP at first. This little guy definitely shoots a lot differently than my other pistols. Even with the comp they're snappy, but you can control that. It does take some practice.

I'm working through this same issue. I'm shooting low and left. Something in my grip or trigger pull or both. I bought one of those dry fire laser training cartridges. Paying close attention to my grip and trigger pull, I get decent groups, on target at 21'. I thought I had it worked out, but when I went to the range and tried again with live ammo, I'm still low and left.

I do fine with my other handguns, just the Hellcat that's kickin' my butt.

Good possibility the anticipation of recoil is causing the effect at the range that you're not having with the laser setup.

Yeh, it's a mental thing, and one of the hardest to recognize and overcome. But you'll get there. (y)(y)(y)
