HELLCAT POI PROBLEM...

HI GUYS, SO I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW HELLCAT TUESDAY OF LAST WEEK, TOOK IT TO THE RANGE OVER THE WEEKEND TO SHOOT IT. SHOT GREAT AND GROUPED GREAT, BUT THE POI WAS WAYYYY OFF FROM MY POA. BELOW IS A PIC OF MY TARGET. THIS IS ONLY 5 YARDS AWAY. I WAS AIMING CENTER OF RED BULLS EYE JUST BELOW THE TOP OF THE WHITE OUTLINE. HAD OTHER SHOOTERS SHOOT IT WITH SAME RESULTS. THE FURTHER YOU WENT BACK THE WORST IT GOT. LIKE I SAID THIS TARGET WAS JUST 5 YARDS AWAY... I THEN TOOK MY M&P SHEILD AND SHOT FROM 7 YARDS AND POA WAS DEAD ON WITH POI. IVE ALREADY SENT IT BACK TO SPRINGFEILD TO SEE WHATS GOING ON. I DONT KNOW IF ITS THE SIGHTS OR BARREL FITMENT. IDK. I DIDNT GET A TEST FIRE SHEET EITHER LIKE I DID WITH MY XD. JUST WONDER IF AYONE ELSE HAS SEEN OR HAD THIS ISSUE. BECAUSE AT 5 YARDS IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS WAY OFF AT ALL. THANKS FOR THE HELP.

SHOT OVER 100 ROUNDS. FROM 5 YARDS IT SHOULD NOT BE SHOOTING 4 INCHS LOW. SPRINGFEILD WILL HAVE IT TOMORROW. IVE JUST NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH ANY OF MY OTHER MICRO COMPACTS I OWN. I LOVE THE GUN. JUST HOPE SPRINGFIELD CAN HELP ME FIGURE SOMETHING OUT.

MY GOD.. MY CAPS ARE ON BECAUSE IM AT WORK AND THEY HAVE TO BE ON FOR THE SOFTWARE I USE TO REGISTER MY KEYS. IF THIS IS THE **** YALL WANT TO TALK ABOUT AND NOT GIVE ME IDEAS ON MY PROBLEM. JUST DELETE THIS THREAD... ILL FIND OTHERS OPINONS ELSEWHERE...
Ok Matt just having fun, according to your post you have already sent your HellCat back to Springfield to have them check it out so give us an update on its return. Until then my take is you were pulling down and left when you pulled the trigger. The reason for your other gun not doing the same thing is you probably have spent more time shooting it and have become accustomed to the action. Every gun is different so more more rounds through your HellCat and you would have eventually come to know your trigger and action of the gun and started getting better hits.

For one, try different ammo if you have any, not all guns like the same brand of ammo or weight. Two, are you using the fixed sights or a electronic one? You really can’t compare two different brands of guns to shoot similar, also the grip angles on these guns are different, this could be a issue.

I agree with Keystone here. My last two handguns fired differently [with the same ammunition] and it took some time for me to get used to the trigger on each. I didn't change a thing with either, but after a few hundred rounds the shot group migrated back to the center. Just my two cents.

When I took mine out for the first time I experienced a similar problem. Working through it I discovered that I needed to adjust my hold on the grip and where I placed my trigger finger on the trigger. Then I needed to practice my draw to adjust my hold and my finger. Problem solved.

In the sixty years I have been shooting handguns, I have run into this problem many times as various guns require different holds and different trigger finger placement. Now that I have accumulated to the gun, I love it.

This is a light hearted board Matt. Everyone talks in lighter spirit and is very conscious of our dialogue. Thus the request for caps.

in the end you have a technical limitation and have to use caps. So let it be known.

seems like you have some feedback thus Far. I know personally I have to adjust with my hellcat versus my DAO or 1911 style trigger and grip. I personally have to adjust a fair level when i move to my hellcat given the trigger.

welcome to the forum

I agree 👆👆👆👆

Low left.

Right handed shooter.

This is a typical issue with a lot of Springfields; and it’s a software, not a hardware issue.

Have someone more practiced run it.
Yep, thats why I suggested shoot it left hand only. (advice not taken) if he shoots low left shooting left handed then I would be more inclined to believe it‘s the gun. Shooting with the opposite hand requires a couple more rounds and is basically free to test.

Unless a person is 100% ambidextrous shooting with the non-dominant hand is always totally different so it's really not a logical way to say just swich hands to compare how a pistol itself is shooting. We all know how different we shoot with the opposite hand.

The issue is the user is handling a different pistol and therefore getting different results than what he/she is usd to with another pistol. The user must adapt to the new pistol.

Agreed.

I'm still getting dialed in with my Hellcat - and I'm coming from primarily an XD-s. Two extremely similar firearms, but I'm still seeing different POIs with the same technique.

In a pinch, either one will "work" - I still put the whole mag into an 8" plate at 10 yards - I just need to get the grouping centered. The Hellcat tends to break up and left for me (about 10:00) and I know full well part of it is me anticipating...

It just takes practice.
