Hellcat question

Just picked up a used hellcat. Here is the question:

is the recoil spring guide rod plastic?

shot it. Loved it. Stripped it for cleaning and was surprised the plunger(not sure the nomenclature), the part that is exposed when you pull the slide back and is exposed, looks to be plastic.

Is this an issue? Are there aftermarket parts that are metal?

if it’s not an issue, please let me know. Just not used to seeing that in Springfield products. Got an XD, XD mod2, and an xde.

Yes plastic. Doesn’t seem to be a problem, Glock has used them for years and millions and millions of rounds.

I have 2 Hellcats with over 1000 rounds through one and 500 through the other. They run like a Swiss watch.
