just bought my wife 9mm hellcat and she is having a bit of trouble pulling the slide back to load. do they make a "softer" spring to make it not as hard but still work they way it should.
thank you
Have her try this. With the Gun EMPTY have her hold the gun in her right hand with her thumb on the slide stop lever, with her left hand have her grasp the top and sides of the slide and push the slide rearward while she pushes up on the slide stop to lock the slide open.
insert a full mag.
she should be able to then just slightly pull the slide back enough to disengage the slide stop and let it slap forward to load the gun. Make sure her finger is off the trigger at all times.
I have noticed and received comments from those who have difficulties racking a pistol slide. They desperately want some help, device, or tips for racking
Another method is the pocket rack. If loading the gun drop in full mag. Holding firearm with strong arm have her hook the rear sights on her belt or pocket. Then with a quick and forceful motion have her push the gun downward. If done correctly she'll effectively load a round in chamber. Please make sure she remembers trigger discipline and keeps her finger out of trigger guard. Also make sure firearm is pointed at the ground and slightly away from herself when doing this maneuver. Best to have her practice this with loading snap caps for the first few times.
