Hellion after switching right to left I can no longer rack

I watched the video, switched the pin to the other side reassembled everything. I was able to rack, so I set it aside. The next day I can only pull it back a few inches. Did I do something wrong? Any suggestions?

I think @xdman had posted something about the instruction video missing a crucial step in this thread You are braver than I am to even try it, I need to do it but I am afraid of precisely what is happening to you.

I followed the directions from springfield armory. I don't think I missed the step mentioned here.
It was not easy (for me) to reassemble it. I'm dreading getting the recoil spring (that entire piece) back in. I'm probably doing something wrong.

Did you flip the BCG as stated in manual. ?

I’ve flipped my back and forth a few times for friends firing, and sometimes forget to flip the BCG.

I believe you, I watched the video and told myself no way I can do that, I'd rather get hit by the casing than screw up my rifle. This is the price to pay for being lefty :D

I would have gotten a gunsmith involved, maybe you still can although some would probably decline touching a pre-f'd rifle. Not sure if SA would accept a service call on that one.

Its pretty easy. Takes about 1 min.
I didn't watch the video though. Just the manual, so maybe the video leaves something out ?

Not necessarily what you want to hear, and definitely not a solution to your problem, but I do install these little foamy deflectors if I can and leave the ejection port alone. Works great.

Okay I found the issue, this should be highlighted in bold blinking red text. I've got to imagine I could have easily fired the gun without resolving this issue first.

This probably sounds like a no-brainer to everyone here, but for me this was almost a disaster.

The firing pin needs to be fully forward before snapping in the firing pin retainer. Only about 1/4th of an inch is visible if it's seated correctly. I did not seat this correctly and it's obvious now that I see how it should be. This can be tested it by trying to remove the bolt (the silver gear/clock looking part) after the firing pin retainer is seated, it should not be removable.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Give it a try.
Its quite easy.
I’m a lefty and shoot it swtiched to left.
When my buds shoot it, I switch it back to right side at the range and off they go. Then I switch back.
Pretty cool party trick🙂
