Hellion Sadness

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the VHS-2 when I saw them and was ecstatic when I saw them being coming here.

So far I feel disappointed on several levels. I’ve got about every bullpup out there and feel this trigger is the worst. Any suggestions about how to improve it? I like the iron sights but with the cheek rest they’re extremely low. I put an LVPO and went with low mounts but ended up going standard AR height. Is there a bolt hold open aside from the LRBHO that I’m just missing? I hate not being able to lock the bolt back. The LOP adjustment is nice but find it’s most comfortable fully closed and I’m a pretty big guy. I can’t believe they didn’t put a decent muzzle brake on it - anyone have suggestions? Sorry to be a downer - I just expected a better platform. I’m not even going into the smaller less annoying problems and feel there’s a number of those as well.

Accuracy isn’t bad but I feel like a muzzle brake and decent trigger would be a huge improvement so that’s my primary focus.

I hear you - but emphasis on this being the worst of any bullpup. Huge take up, wall, squishy additional take up and surprise break. Even my AK bullpup conversions with the Arsenal kits (later Century) are better and I’d say those are the most rudimentary of all. Hopefully there will be some leads on how to improve it. No stranger to bullpup trigger trade off but the RDB, Desert Tech, and, even more so RFB, have spoiled me on the fact they don’t have to suck. The AUG can even be decent by comparison - especially with a little work. Geissele was night and day on the Tavor but would argue even my stock SAR and X95 is manageable.

Part of me hopes mine is just some anomaly and they aren’t all this horrible.

I also realize I went early adopter and $2.25K was on the crazy side but I just wanted it that bad. Maybe Springfield will work on addressing the issues but I’ll call them at some point if no realistic solutions present themselves.

It comes with a flash hider, similar to what the rifle it's based on has, afaik…just like, say, an AUG.

How many of those other bullpups came with brakes? Not the AUG, or Tavors…
Not like I feel my comments are being cherry picked - you’re correct it does come with a flash hider as most do - albeit birdcage. The only exception to that comment that I can think of was the 24’ RFB at nearly half the cost - with a hard case. I was more looking for suggestions. Funny thing is I’ve never messed with any AUG flash hider variants maybe because of the VFG although the first thing I did to the Hellion was add a BCM foregrip which helped.

As for brakes—I have a Surefire SOCOM brake on one of my AR’s, makes it feel like a .22.
