I think that's saying the combo Hellcat with the Wasp is discontinued. I'm sure the Hellcat is still a valid gun and available. Like Anni, I too have the Hellcat/Wasp combo and have never had an issue. I kind of followed what was happening with the Wasp back when, and I think if the one you're looking at is a very early issue you'll be fine. It seems the second generation is where the problems started, and it wasn't drastic, they just ate batteries like crazy. My Wasp battery has been going strong now for almost 3 years I think, but in all honesty it's not on my Hellcat, it's still sitting on my desk. I had bought another RDS before the Wasp was even introduced, then as soon as it hit the market I bought one because they were SA. Since I already had the other RDS mounted, I decided to wait till it died before I changed it our for the Wasp.
If the price is right, jump on it and if the Wasp is an early issue you'll be fine. If it's a later issue, maybe not. But don't let the RDS cause you to lose out on one of the finest 9mm pistols you'll ever own. Not knowing CA requirements, if this one is allowed there's no doubt in my mind I'd jump on it.
