Help- stripped 1911 grip screw

At that point just use it as an excuse to buy a really nice set.

Epoxy is a 2 part mix, but it will be cleaner than JB Weld. And stronger.

The speed out screws are probably worth a shot. As Mike said, they will likely come in handy again.
So his JB is NOT epoxy ?!?
He said it was. If not is there a good brand?

Bushings and screws are cheap in the grand scheme of things. I've had a screw seize in before as well. I drilled out the hex head and used a EZ out and went T15 torx and stainless bushings on round two.

JB weld is also a two part epoxy.
JB Weld requires 24 hrs to fully set. If you go with expoy make sure it says cures in 5 minutes. And use a small amount on just the tip of the allen wrench.

Any luck with getting the screw out?
Thanks much for asking…
As I write this, It is sitting at home with a star (torx?) allen key epoxied and lightly clamped in the grip screw. I thought I’d try that first. Then work git a little hectic and it was late Fri night before I could try anything.
I’ll be back home tomorrow and we’ll see if that joker will play ball.

I hope it works out for you.

You might allow a little penetrating oil to seep under the screw head...not WD40, but something like Kroil or PB Blaster. You might also try using a soldering iron on the head of the screw (if the epoxy & Torx tool doesn't work) and heat it up really good. If there is Loctite on the threads, the heat might be sufficient to loosen the grip.

I thought about Loctite (noted in an earlier post) but the other 3 screws can out correctly and showed no sign of Loctite or anything else. So I’m operating on the assumption it’s not likely to be that.
I’ll keep the suggestions in mind - thanks !

If it doesn't come out easily, apply lightly twisting pressure on the screwdriver while tapping the head of the handle with a light hammer. The vibrations will usually shake it loose.
