Hotel Chains for Gun Owners

I used to travel for a living (200+ nights/year in hotels)... HI Express was (at the time) my preferred hotel...they never had a clue I ever had firearms in their properties and I can't imagine willingly telling them I was armed. Can you elaborate about your OP....what does HI do these days about guns on their premises (sign on the door? they'd never know I was concealed anyway...). Those travel days were 16 years ago...I imagine things can change a lot...

For years we have used Holiday Inn as our choice of chains. They have become very anti gun.
We are cancelling their credit card and looking for a hotel chain that wants our business. (We are Diamond Elite with them.)

Any suggestions?
I see you are in Illinois. I guess your state allows hotels to allow that, such as Holiday Inn does. But in Texas that is a no go. We have a law that allows you to have your firearms in a hotel. I guess the only thing you can do in your case is never use Holiday Inn again, unless you travel to Texas. Sorry for the state laws you have and the BS attitude of Holiday Inn.

We are Diamond Elite, they never know when I'm carrying. They don't ask...I don't tell.

thats my thing

i carry concealed and never have felt the need to let anyone know otherwise

we can open carry here in texas if your legally allowed to own a firearm
but i have some brain issues with that and prefer to keep renewing my license to carry so i can be concealed and it makes dealing with other states easier

we have a good number of yeehoooos that think just because state law allows open carry, that then can carry EVERY where, which is WRONG as oprah in a g string
walmart here is conceal carry and has signage iaw law to state no OPEN Carry, yet people still persist to open carry and get called out by management and very often the deputies have to come

Some large matches have people stay where they can find lodging. Bad guys have targeted vehicles in hopes of finding a bunch of nice weapons and have even stolen trucks with everything in them at a motel or restaurant. I don't advertise my affiliation with stickers or vanity plates advertising and if traveling, carted everything inside. I never asked permission, but I don't live in anti-gun areas either.

This must put a damper on hunters in Illinois staying at a Holiday Inn. I have some friends from Arkansas that hunt deer in Southern Illinois, but I guess they stay at hotels that allow firearms, or at friends' houses during deer season. I don't know. I'll have to ask them where they stay during hunting season.

You are so right, do not advertise!

I wouldn't go to Motel 6 without a gun. 🤨
Back in the 90s I was competing regularly in cowboy mounted shooting and by the time we boarded my horse and started looking for a hotel, Motel 6 was the only choice we could find. The parking lot was a parade of hookers and drug dealers and users. :(

We unloaded everything and left nothing in the truck. When we got into the room I changed out the oatmeal loads in my .45 single actions for lead loads. The noise level in the parking lot and the adjoining rooms was far too loud but it was what it was. About midnight someone seriously wanted in our room and were working on breaking it down.

I put one load through the door, creating a peep hole. The disturbance stopped, the parking lot and surrounding area became quiet for the rest of the night. It is amazing the difference one round can make.

I've stayed in a Motel 6 three times in my life and every time was because the only other choice was to sleep in the car. That was still three times too many :censored:.

LaQuinta has been my choice for years, mostly because they are dog friendly. Some are worn but tgey are renovating. My hotel is my home for the time I am staying, its none of their business if I have firearns.
thats my other reason
my dogs like their large extra bed
the inn and suites in Daphne Alabama is really pet friendly
they do allot to make you all feel at home and great FULL breakfast
