While the house passed the pistol brace repeal resolution, while this is good, but doubt it is going anywhere in the senate, plus the president said he would veto it.

50/50 Senate and 15 (R) voted for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, I suspect the House Resolution may just be ‘24 electioneering tactic.
Though the two are completely different, the principle remains (it’s guns bad and the kids) so if independents Machin-Sinema aren’t on board, the H.R. is DOA. The soft-shell Turtle from KY certainly isn’t interested, might even sit on it until politically necessary.

I think this is just political grandstanding. Hypothetically - let's say it passes the Senate, gets vetoed, and then the Senate overrides the veto to make it law. To me - it seems like there would still be a conflict/legal argument that a braced pistol is an SBR based on the congressional passed NFA 1934 definitions. I.e. - does this bill conflict with the NFA Act of 1934? Instead of this bill, why not pass an amendment to the NFA 1934 Act to remove the barrel length requirement for a legal rifle?

Again - they can knee jerk and pass a myopically focused bill that may not have any logical basis in gun control/previous legislation/crime, etc. This is just political B.S. They know it wont go further, but throws a meaningless bone to the 2A community. Again, you want to impress me as a thinking gun owner - pass an amendment to the NFA 1934 - at the very least removing barrel length definitions......and removing suppressors, or more.

I think the legislators screaming 2A wouldn't be able to argue that a braced pistol does not meet the NFA 1934 SNR congressionally passed definition. Meaningless - show me you understand law/legislation, and the stupidy of the NFA 1934 and repeal it or pass a meaningful ammendment to it. (Even if it won't get through the Senate.)
