How Many Magazines should you Have

Good points in the article. One of the many reasons I like SA "gear up" promotions, because of the extra magazines. Then when I activated the warranty through Springfield, I received special pricing for a one time purchase. (Don't know if they still do that) My one time purchases always consisted of a box full of shiny new magazines of various sizes.

I’d agree, minimum 5-6 is required, more being better...10-12 being acceptable, 20 being comfortable...for a carry/defensive use firearm. More “range toy” guns? As many as you think you'll need, but usually 3-4 will do.

HK did the same thing as the “Gear Up” a couple years ago, 4 mags with most new pistols...bought my VP9 Tactical at the time mainly to get the mags. They also put them on sale from time to time at $99/4 on their web store.

Hopefully, they’ll do it with their new 17rd mags soon.

Both my XD Mod2 and XDS were purchased with the "Gear Up" program, so they have 5 mags each. My Saint Edge came with one 30rnd mag, and I've purchased an additional one. The S&W M&P EZ9 I just bought comes with two 8rnd mags. About 30 minutes ago I ord'd two additional mags for the EZ9. I initially looked at the S&W site, and they have them available at $34.99 each. So.......I went to the GunMagWarehouse site, and they have factory mags for the EZ9 at $27.99 each. That's a $7.00 per mag savings when compared to the S&W site. After s/h costs, those two mags came to $64.33. Next "payday" (ret'd here) I'll order one or two more.

5–45ACP
5–40cal
6–9mm
4–1911 RO 45ACP

For my AR’s
4– AR15 Pistol 300 BO
6– AR15 Saint Victor 5.56
8–Shared between my 2 AR10’s in .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor.

Now During this crazy time I’m carrying extra mags for my CCW and just picked up two double mag pouches, one for my 40cal double stack and one for my single stack 1911 45ACP.

A little stiff but heavy duty leather and VERY well made.
