How many Russians does it take to capture Kyiv?

Most people also fail to understand that Ukraine is really only slightly less corrupt than Russia. Their leaders sure weren’t dancing around in fields of lollipops, spreading democracy across the land or anything. The two cities Russia annexed (or recognized their independence is what they called it) we’re both bombed heavily by Ukraine in the very recent past. Parts of the country, like Kharkiv, as recently as 2014 were being controlled by pro Russian Ukrainians. None of this is to say that Putin was justified mind you and he is a brutal, dictatorial monster who views the fall of the USSR as the worst thing that ever happened, but the fact is if Ukraine, with placating from the west, hadn’t been prattling on about joining NATO ( which is a pipe dream) it’s unlikely Putin would have invaded.

Question. How would you guys feel if Mexico or Canada formed a military alliance with Russia and China ?
Don't go nuts on me! We are being dragged into a conflict thats not our war.Russia & Ukraine have been at it for years.Ukraine would like nothing better then to have us take the lead in this.Me ! You'll get no argument from me. In the last few weeks Zolensky has made opposition parties illegal and shut down all media except the one controlled by the state.

Russia and Ukraine have been at it for just a couple years in the big scheme of things. Since 1991 to be exact. The Russian/Ukraine story is 1160 years old though. And throughout that history, with a brief exception in like the 1200s, The Ukraine has never been "Independent". It is the birthplace of Russia. Kievan Rus. This "Sovereign nation status" has only existed since the fall of the USSR.

I agree Putin is a brutal dictator, but Zolensky isn't all that different. He just lacks the power Putin has. I agree the US involvement is unwarranted and frankly it's optics. Now if Putin decides to move westward beyond The Ukraine we have a different story.

He shut down the media and opp leaders to ensure Russia doesnt install proxy leaders and their own spies. Time of war.
If he keeps that when war is over , its a diff story, but I get it now as a temp solution

Like I have said before, we are not the worlds police, let them handle there issues by themselves, yes it’s horrible, we also need to keep our leader from blowing smoke when he gives any speeches, and not to say stuff that may eventually do get us into a war with Russia, my opinion here

Yeah, sounds good. We don't have to wait and see what he does when the war is over though, we can look at what he was doing before it started. ;)

Ukraine is a cesspool. Putin is a war mongering, roid-raging, maniac. This post has nothing to do with right or wrong. Just info.

Russian military doctrine paper from a think tank in DC. That all by itself makes me question any conclusions, but the abstract neatly mirrors the Russia Ukrainian war.
Point: Putin will absolutely level cities to get what he wants. He’s already doing so in strategic places like Mariupol. Rip out the economic abilities of the enemy while destroying civilian will and infrastructure. The head of the Russian defense department got disappeared, imo, for not following the doctrine.
Now a tanker has run over his BrigCmdr and I will bet we see more of the same soon.

“Abstract
This paper explores the core tenets of Russian military strategy and associated operational concepts, situating its role within the Russian system of knowledge on military security. Russian military leaders describe the prevailing strategy as ‘active defense,’ a strategic concept integrating preemptive measures to anticipate and prevent conflict, wartime concepts of operations that seek to deny an opponent decisive victory in the initial period of war, degrading and disorganizing their effort, while setting the conditions to attain war termination on acceptable terms. The strategy emphasizes integration of defensive and offensive operations, maneuver defense, sustained counterattack, disorganization of an opponent’s command and control, engagement of their forces throughout the theater of military action, including infrastructure in their homeland. Its theory of victory is premised on degrading the military-economic potential of opponents, focusing on critically important objects, to affect the ability and will of an adversary to sustain a fight, as opposed to ground offensives to seize territory or key terrain. The study also explores the content of Russian strategic operations, associated missions and tasks, the echelonment of Russian military concepts, together with Russian outlooks on the theory and practice of modern warfare.”
