I have my Dad's M99 .300 Savage (I actually bought it from him) and picked up a nice .250-3000 later.

Had a Savage Stevens 320 with interchangeable barrels. Not real good with fit and finish but shot okay. Biggest factor was it was inexpensive. Traded it and a couple hundred bucks for a motorcycle which also was not real good with fit and finish but rode okay. Que sera sera...
