Hello all, here is today's article posted on TheArmoryLife.com. It is titled “How to Choose a 1911 Pistol” and can be found at https://www.thearmorylife.com/how-to-choose-a-1911-pistol/.
The only 1911 I'd consider purchasing is a Colt .45 made at the Union Switch and Signal plant in Swissvale, PA during WWII. My grandfather worked there making 45s..
That's literally the only 1911 you'd consider? There are a lot of very good 1911s being made these days - every bit the quality of a classic Colt, and more so. Just sayin.
Yes.. for purely sentimental reasons.. because the one I'd get could be one my grandfather worked on.
thats my take, i need one of each so depending on which personality i have that day for the range is met with correct corresponding 1911... my 1967 colt 1911 is my benchmark for all others, its 99% perfect"Did you buy the wrong 1911?" The answer is always "Yes. Therefore I must buy more!" I follow this rule religiously.
Same here--a 1924 M1911A1 and a 1966 LW Commander. Most of the rest of mine are customs, built on either Essex (all-steel) or Fed Ord Ranger (alloy) frames. But most of them look a lot like SA Mil-Specs.Two of my 1911's are old Colts. They have an aura. But I prefer shooting the newer ones
i have never seen a v16 or v12 in my world they are like big foot.I purchase a V-16 several years and I love it. It is my EDC. The longer site radius makes the pistol accurate. I highlighted the front site with blaze orange to aid my older eyes. It is a very good 1911
