How to Maintain Your Kahr....and disassembly of....

I won't own a pistol with a slide stop like that. Even the pro had to exert strong pressure during disassembly. That's what I like about my Springfields, disassembly and reassembly is easy peasy.
Because the Kahrs' are "true" micro" pistols they have stout recoil springs to handle the 9mm & .45.

Since I have a PM9 I don't find it difficult to disassemble, but those that don't have any experience with one think otherwise.

I think Kahr's are good firearms. I had an MK40 that I carried for several years. It was well made and I liked the smooth trigger. It was heavy and took patience to take apart but the engineering in it was impressive.

It wasn't an easy firearm to rack the slide on, but back then my hand strength was not an issue. Now that I'm 65 and survivor of a few surgeries I'm picky about which semi-autos I own that have a slide that's easier to manipulate.

As a martial arts instructor I'm always trying to improve the basics. I consider working on more efficiently racking a slide as one of those basics...:)

I think Kahr's are a good choice if they fit your hand and you're willing to spend the time getting used to them. For me there's just better options than a Kahr because of the reasons I mentioned earlier.

I've had a number of 9mm Kahr pistols previously (K9, MK9, PM9) and never had any issues with them as long as one follows the owners manual, in particular that the slide lock be used during 'break in' to chamber a round. I failed to do that with my first PM9, had malfunctions and got rid of the pistol only to buy another one (same malfunctions, then I read the manual), so it was an expensive lesson. Once everything is working as it should the overhand technique works just as well.

I will say that the all metal Kahr pistols break in much quicker than the polymer pistols. The trigger on a Kahr is very nice, but racking the short slide can be a challenge for some people. And DIY changing the sights is best left to the factory. Many gunsmiths won't even do it. Kahr apparently uses a giant press to install the sights initially.
