I always knew it happens....... just never realized how much certain guns are/were passed around !!!!

Yeah, but that’s what the NICS is for.
Thoughts?
The "FI" or whatever ID marking (Especially if potential purchaser doesn't have or need a CC ID.) could also save LGS time, possible headache & paperwork by just looking at ID before doing NICS, like requesting ID and checking before handing firearm to potential customer. - Really not much different than checking ID for alcohol or tobacco products.

Some reasoning? Many to most handguns are in glass display cases. Looking at ID 1st for whatever marking used could solve some issues before even starting them by simply keeping HG's there on display in some instances.

Even with possible private sales with unknown persons, looking at ID 1st could give more piece of mind to seller. You, me and many others don't do private sales to strangers, but have heard some others do.

Keeping in mind, the marking of ID's, is still an infringement like many other related things are?

And not just an infringement on the 2A. Every liquor store clerk, person you write a check to, election judge you show an ID to etc. now knows you’re mental or a felon just by looking at your ID. It wouldn’t affect most of us but it is definitely an invasion of privacy.
