i can only see more of this

And James Woods blames Gavin Newsom and DEI, while donald fires off tweets blaming and complaining. Also stupid and useless. The fact is, things like these fires, more damaging hurricanes, crazy heatwaves and cold snaps, etc and going to keep happening with greater severity and frequency. I would like to see donald do anything to help besides whine on Twitter. This is going to happen a lot during his term, too.
Dude, everyone knows who’s to blame for the situation. Trump ain’t even president yet and you’re asking “ what has he done?”
You’re right about one thing. We can expect 4 more years of the left blaming Trump for everything.

Maybe if the new fire chief hadn’t made her first order of business creating a department to insure LGBTQ people get jobs as firefighters and maybe if they hadn’t cut 17 million dollars from the firefighters budget and maybe if they repealed the ridiculous laws regarding underbrush and tree trimming, the federal government wouldn’t have to once again bail them out to the tune of billions for yet another preventable natural disaster.

OH LORD HOW I HATE TO BE FAIR.
As much as I hate insurance companies, to be fair it is my understanding that State Farm and other insurance companies canceled these policies some weeks back, before the fires, due to changes in the law made by the geniuses that run Calf.
People also canceled their insurance because it was expensive.

Who do you think is fixing to pay for Paris Hilton’s house ? I’m betting it’s not her.

By the way, insurance companies are all owned by banks. Let that sink in.

Its not just homeowners insurance. I had to find new Medicare prescription drug coverage this year. It seems that Mutual of Omaha, who I had for years, decided they weren't making enough money off their drug plans and just canceled the whole program. Several other insurance companies cancelled all their prescription plans as well.
Its all about the money. They couldn't care less about the customers.

You missed my point. Blame games and whining aren't helping anything. People blaming donald or Gavin are doing nothing of any value. Find a solution, do something productive, don't whine and complain. Anyone with any influence would do well to help and leave the Twitter comments at the door.

As to enormous fires in an area in severe drought with 100mph winds...nothing is going to stop those. Once that kicks off it's going until it stops. The only thing stopping those fires is serious rain or running out of fuel.

Oh sure. Let’s not blame the people responsible. 🙄

It’s Hawaii all over again. Probably a land grab.

Never fear, Newton’s bringing in the convicts.

Blame can come later, and hopefully fact based instead of politically expedient and with the intention of creating a solution. Ideology should take a back seat. For now, deal with what's actually happening.

I just told you what’s actually happening. Large decrease in the firefighter budget, same as cops. There aren’t enough of them. New lesbian fire chief who concentrated her time on hiring LGBTQ+ people. Terrible and well known for a long time laws banning common sense forestry practices. They’ve literally had a century or more to figure out how to get water from lakes and the Pacific Ocean to battle fires. Fires have been a problem in SoCal since people first inhabited it.

What’s actually happening is the state of California and banks are grabbing land from stupid, rich people who thought it would never happen to them.

I can see not renewing policies in high risk areas. But Its wrong to just cancel due to higher than normal risks.

But then California has been terrible with their land management for many years and created the conditions for these fires to ravage the area. The insurance companies saw it coming. They have nobody to blame but themselves.

Not really a higher than normal risk though. This happens all the time there. It just usually doesn’t happen to the movie stars.

If this happened in Fontana we may never have even heard about it.

exactly, the banks don't want to own land, they want the cash each month...

true too, we ALL pay millions of dollars for insurance over our lifetime, from perhaps our first set of wheels.

what are they doing with the monies they rake in..??

buy each member of the board a private jet..??

cars, boats, condos, vacations, bonuses,.....???

how about if they just re-invest THAT money instead of doling it out monthly or quarterly..??

how about re-investing monies into higher paying investments?

maybe then, like in my case, DO NOT have full replacement value of the home repairs? but rather what the cost would have been maybe 5 years prior...?

my insurance guy(s) had told me, my premiums would be astronomical if i had "full replacement coverage".....as a senior citizen, i cannot afford those premiums. maybe a high falutin movie star can, but not us "ordinary people", so i take what i can and then move into a condo, or trailer park.

i mean seriously, the insurance industry pulling out of disaster prone areas, will not stop, or they will demand higher coverages at higher premiums, with still Limits on coverages.

what then,, a government bailout for them too...????
Insurance companies are nothing more than legalized theft. Judging by what happened in NY, maybe they should be investing in body armor for their board members. I think the general public is pretty damn fed-up with insurance of all kinds.

We lived in SoCal in the early to mid-90s and insurance rates for cars where high even back then. We had several neighbors who only carried liability on their cars to save on costs.

As far as home insurance goes the home value and therefore the cost of the policy is tied to the property tax valuation of the home. The politicians want to be able to day they didn't raise the tax rate, but then mysteriously, the home value goes up and hence your policy cost. We rented while in SoCal, but if we bought the house then it would have run about 250K. That's a lot for the mid-90s, but not for SoCal. Today, the place is valued at 1 million. Someone is raking in the tax dollars and I can only imagine the insurance costs.
