i have lost my interest in the holidays, when i had to go to work...then continue to work to support my family. it is a necessary evil...work that is..not family
as a child we all looked forward to the holidays, as they were either a day or 2 off from school, or a week or 2 off.
once we grow up, and have to work, i think many of us look at many holidays as "just a bigger meal day"
i am among the lucky ones, that my family is all here in my state, and really not that far from each other.
but that is now, who knows what the grandkids, or great grand kids will do when they get older.
the over abundance of commercialism, dashing off from one store to another, increased road rage, and disrespect grow (to me) more dangerously each year.
it will not stop.
all we can do is try to live thru it, and frankly i do, by staying home, watching tv, and yeah.....taking a nap
even the wife stays home a wee bit more now during the holidays, but when she does go out..?? its early in the mornings, with our daughters.
