So that magical whiteness we got for Christmas has turned into a hazardous mess. Good thing we are reclusive anyway, but by the end of tomorrow I may be getting a bit twitchy. They're calling for up to an inch plus of ice on the major roads. It has taken folks upwards of two hours to travel from Fargo to our neck of the woods (usually 30 to 40 minutes, depending on how heavy one's foot is
). Good thing neither of us has to go anywhere until Wednesday. PJs is the standard dress code until then..
back in my trucking days, i'd be on the road, and get caught up in a sudden snow squall, ice fog, freezing rain, blizzard, to name only few weather events that can come up all of a sudden, and not being able to pull over and stop NOW.
the scariest event i had to deal with, was ice fog, on the New Jersey Turnpike, with cars whizzing by me with no regards to what the hell they were doing.
to this day, i cannot believe all the crap i drove an 18 wheeler through, and never had an accident nor jacknife, due to some moron car driver, or moron trucker, tempting fate, all cause they thought "they knew how to drive"....
cars spun out, crashed, trucks jackknifed, roads closed......fun days i will never, ever miss.
i been up your way, but it was usually during the spring, summer months.....
going thru the Eisenhower tunnel, one side clear as a bell, come out the other, into a raging blizzard, was another hair raising experience.
events like those, age a person real fast......
