If this is true it is rather troubling

Conspiracy alert ... Woke Demo/Socialist way to destabilize the military without the 'defund' stigma.
Maybe, but considering that its Military. com reporting this, I tend to believe it.
I think somebody is filling their pockets on this. There needs to be a full and complete investigation and heads need to be put on pikes. Starting with the base commander. If he didn't know about this, he isn't fit to command. 🤬

One of my duty stations, almost 40 years ago, was Fort Carson. I was there from 1985-1988. I lived in the barracks, and the chow halls were pretty good, but not the best I've experienced in different duty stations. The worst was my last duty station at Camp Lejeune. So bad that we did cook our own meals or order a lot of pizza. But I do remember at Fort Carson during the holidays, the chow halls went all out for holiday meals. Higher level leadership was expected to show up on the holidays and eat with the troops. More than once I sat next to a General, stuffing my face with Turkey. Times have sure changed.
You could be entitled to compensation.

Which begs the question of what aholes wound up with those millions
How much money have we sent to Ukraine, Israel and illegal border-crossers over the last few years? Hundreds of billions. Don't get me started on the growing leaks about our Ukraine dollars being funneled back to our politicians that I've been reading about on internet sites in which I should not be putting faith.

i am not so sure the article is 100% true
there were many issues
if a service member lives on base at the barracks, then the dining facility is their only PROVIDED meal source
they still have fast food (insert contract winner, burger king etc) and of course most units have some sort of gedunk shop . but the dining facility is the place that feeds them for no cost, unless they are on commuted rations pay.

the HUGE PROBLEM for many, on base persons, is transportation and the command actually making sure the folks are allowed to go to the dining facility when its OPEN. that one is huge...as in its really hard to get the folks who dont get paid to eat off base to get to the provided dinning facility during its open hours for B, L and D and maybe mid scraps
its a direct leadership FAILURE if troops under your tutelage, guidance , responsibility cant get to the chow hall ...it happens a WHOLE LOT... **** poor leaders, forget that people that need it most... they give e, crap and say... go grab a candy bar et..

my time in navy ....it SUCKED pickled poop if you lived in barracks and depended on the chow hall to feed you
our barracks were for some reason clear across base from the chow hall, and no shuttle on weekends and very few on week days that came around your unit to gather up the people and get them to the chow hall
i have at times tossed a bunch of people in a duty van and off they went,
it always struck me in a weird way..we have these troops and they are our charges, yet we dont ensure they can get to the chow hall??/ WHY WHY WHY
most of these folks dont have a vehicle?

operation tempo in a unit often finds you busy as a bubble bee right at meal hours. commands have to ensure the troops get to the chow hall, OR provide commuted rations allowance...that last one is tough for commands to get approved i the troops live in the barracks

i have seen some commands get box lunches delivered etc...
but that is not an answer...
how bout chow hall being open 5 am to 10 pm ? i used to request that all the time

onboard carriers we could eat pretty much any time of day or night.
i think fwd galley shut down 2 hrs to clean around 2 am
and aft shut down maybe 3 out of 24 hrs

maybe the incoming secdef gets the weeds pulled.

I only had them in the late 70's when I was on Wildland fire crews.

They gave us the ones that were rejected/past expiration dated/left-over from you gents in VN.

When we were dehydrated from being on the fire line for extended time the "Rats" were a double-edged sword. You were super hungry, but they cleaned you out then you were even more dehydrated that you were already.

We mostly had the B-1 menu but some B-3s would show up.

The we had what we called "Hair Net" food in fire camp, which was slop in bags that they heated up in large drums of boiling water then poured out into smaller drums at the chow line. Something like really bad chopped/chipped creamed beef. (n)

Every Army base I ever served on had one mess hall that stayed open 24/7. This was specifically for the guys who were on duty and missed scheduled chow. Sometimes it might have been plumb on the other side of the post, but as long as you had a valid meal card, you could eat for free.

I ate a bunch of C-Rats when I was in. I've also eaten some of the new MREs. I prefer the C-rats. ;)

This should come as no surprise to anybody, and it is probably true. Think back to the conditions of the barracks and VA hospital rooms. The living conditions of some of the barracks they were in HERE, with the mold, etc. The 3rd World conditions of their living/sleeping/shower facilities overseas, especially in the fighting arena in the Middle East. The **** poor way our Veterans are treated AT HOME. I'm sorry (NOT), but I do not doubt this for one minute. Oh, and remember what the National Guard had to go through when they were "protecting" the Capital back in 2020, with the sleeping conditions and lack of quality food? President Trump and those in his cabinet need to go through the VA and Military with a fine tooth comb, and not only fire those responsible for this crap show, but pull their benefits and retirement benefits as well. Bust some of these officers down a few pay grades. Examples need to be made. Examples also need to be made of the politicians that allowed this to happen and looked the other way. Names need to be exposed. Careers need to be destroyed.

I remember being fed while in the Army. Granted sometimes it wasn't the best but we were fed and NCO's made sure we had what we needed. In the Air Force most of my guys were single and lived in barracks. I always made sure we got them to chow hall to eat and if for some reason we were running late a call to the NCOIC of chow hall insured they would stay open after hours. If single enlisted members are not being provided with the nutrition they require it is a FAILURE by their NCO's and OFFICERS. I took the responsibility for caring for my troops seriously. It saddens me to think these men and women get forgotten.

I live in Colorado Springs. Around Christmas last year there was a similar story. I can't find the video
(with tin foil hat firmly in place) No surprise, big tec censoring history once again.
The out-going administration has been feeding the illegals far better food than that the last 4 yrs.
My 1st thought, well my second after somebody needs to be stood against the wall, and decided not to go there. Thank you for taking the path I didn't

I was stationed at Fort Carson from 1992 to 1995. Fort Carson is a big Post in terms of training area but the Barracks are concentrated all along two streets McGrath and Specker.

If I remember right there was a mess hall at the South End of what they used to call the Banana Belt. There was one at the midpoint and there was one way up North where all the support units were at. Is also one at Evans Hospital and I'm pretty sure there was one on Butts field.

When I was in the army the Mess Hall's budget was directly related to how many people signed in for every meal.

If I understand what I read in the article for whatever reason people aren't going to the Mess Halls. Which cuts the budget for the Mess Halls.

I just watched a story on the local news about how the Fort Carson Culinary Academy which is not something that was there when I was stationed there is preparing over 200 Thanksgiving meals for homeless and underprivileged people in Colorado Springs.

That doesn't sound like They don't have enough money to feed the troops.
