So i signed up and here i am. It's a "slow" forum but i will give it a look through and see if it's decent since others have only been ok
I am newer in the gun and 2A things. 2A i have been supporting and pushing for a Right to not be a privaledge (i used to live in NJ and i hope a little to get back there) so i put my name in GOA and other email bombs and make calls as well. A gun for CCW and paper/cardboard killing/practice will happen hopefully by the end of the year. A 1911DS 9mm or 10mm for a good price for me is what i want. I and not against putting it together.

I am also new to a State that is slightly 2A friendly ..
I’m curious as to what you consider a decent forum. As a newbie “in the gun and 2A things” I’d think you’d be open to everyone and anything because at this point you’re firmly in the You don’t know what you don’t know phase. As for this being a “slow” forum you better put your big boy pants on. If you want to learn how to get a .7 sec draw time, put 50 rounds in a 2 inch hole or unjam your lovely new Prodigy as it is wont to do you came to the right place. And by the end of the year when you pick up your Prodigy there will be members of this forum who will have bought more guns in that period than you will in a lifetime.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you make it.

Here, Here!!!!

Hmmm....I am not sure I resemble a cretin or a curmudgeon. I suppose that makes me a termagant. (I can't believe I just did that :ROFLMAO:). Just be careful @no life, there are enablers on here...but they mean well and are a wealth of information ☺️. Sometimes we go a little off the rails, but as long as we don't break the rules it's not a big deal. Lots of good people here, make yourself comfortable. 😎

Really tho, if you are new to handguns I can offer several thoughts.
"Putting one together" is probably not a good idea. The whole buy a Prodigy and change everything but the Slide and Frame and Barrel is not cost effective.
In fact if you are new to handguns, there are plenty of striker fired models that are less money than a 1911DS or 2011 that are more forgiving as far as maintenance and would give you time to learn the basics such as handgun safety, proper range etiquette, basic maintenance, clearing jambs etc.
A 1911Ds / 2011 is a finicky machine, requires more attention than other handguns. I would buy a "Stock" factory gun in order to have the warranty that most offer instead of building a Frankenstein 2011.
10mm is a heck of a round for most shooters unless hunting with it, pick a more economical round. That will allow you more bang for buck. Have fun and best wishes on your journey.

I went on a long post replying to certain posts made in this thread but it didn't seem to be a good thing to do....

A decent forum, in general" to me is, active, fun and has good/great threads. A few other things as well

I made a mistake with saying TAL was a slow forum, sorry. I joined before looking through each forum section...

My saying i'm "new" to guns and 2A is mostly true. It's been 10ish years or so since i took this path. And 1 thing i thought i would never do happened this year, i re-registered to vote, mainly for 2A reasons not for a party....

And a dream gun like a Prodigy would be a 2 year+ plan/savings for me, at least...

I know i forgot somethings... i will hopefull be back tomorrow to add to this thread....
