in other news our medium sized 30 foot or so pecan tree is giving up the gold

despite the horrible summer heat and spotty rain, we watered the pecan tree daily with drip soak buckets,
so far this harvest # 1, still have to get a ladder and finish plucking them off or wait for the natural fall and beat the squirrels
the tree is about 8 and is medium sized around 30 feet tall with pretty decent canopy

we were at the walmart today, they had like a gazillion pecan mini pies.

i love them, but........i have to watch my blood sugar.

i think i saw a Patty LaBelle pecan pie, i gotta try hers, she is a diabetic as well.

What area of the country ?

north east texas..near sulphur springs
first year we have been able to get this many...its not alot...but we are happy considering the horrible weather, worms, flood then drought
they are really good to. been eating them already

with my current food situation...no pie, thats to much sugar and all things that cause expansion of middle
so its raw or lightly toasted tree nuts

Our house is located in what was a pecan grove. Hurricane Ivan blew down about 40 of my mature trees. I still have a few mature trees, some years we get a goid crop, some years not. I got a lot of good pecan lumber from downed trees that we have used a lot as wood flooring and furniture.
