Shrug .

I can teach someone to make center mass hits at 7yds , way way faster and easier than learning Guitar .
Hey! I'll have you know that my father is way better at playing the guitar than shooting and he self taught himself to play the guitar and by contrast a former police officer friend took him to the range to train him and for days he still couldn't hit anything! The only time my dad did hit the target was when his Sig fired on it's own! 😆😆

(Ok the last part was an exaggeration)

Many people buy 'home defense' firearms as more of a talisman than a tool. I would suggest that the behaviors listed so far that many of us see as appalling or negligent regarding maintenance, training and knowledge of legal use of firearms would be a majority rather than a minority. I often mount my soap box and rail about 'pistoleros' that buy holsters that rely on friction to keep the gun in the holster. 🚫

An even larger % of the internet will claim to only ever use open top holsters because they will be " incapable to use a thumb break or similar under stress " than the majority that insist they will only ever use semiauto pistols with no manual safety , because they will be " incapable to flip a safety under stress " .

I gave up even having that discussion long ago , since I have better odds convincing them to convert to breaker points & carburetors.

A guy that worked for a contractor I often managed decided he wanted a pistol. He asked me for my thoughts on the matter so I loaded up an assortment of calibers, shapes, and sizes and had him meet me at the local range. We also rented a couple of different pistols that caught his eye from the range. Months later after he felt he had done a sufficient amount of research, I took him to my favorite FFL to make his first purchase. He has since become quite the "gun junkie". He has taken all sorts of classes and has become quite proficient. He even got a CCL which says a lot being that he is a liberal from New York. I'm pretty sure he has spent half of my annual salary fortifying what has become a vast collection. I'm impressed by his insatiable appetite for knowledge and his drive to far surpass competency in the handling of firearms. And to think all of this started because he wanted the means to protect his toilet paper during the scamdemic! 🤣

Honestly that sounds like the best scenario outcome...especially for protecting his toilet paper!
