intrigued, but might pull the trigger

I know some look at the other person and say, "no wat I'm buying that thing". Getting past that I've been intrigued about the AK style semi-auto shotguns. I know a few that own the 47's and 74's, but have never held or seen 1 in person. With more companies having ways to add an optic, use American style stocks and handguards gets me leaning toward the AK style. Most are under 1k easy depending on setup almost swades me to but 1. Some of the other AR styles has me looking also as price is 200-400 $ less and could give more options for customizations? Any AK experience hands on shooters weigh in please! This thread is not just about what I'm intrigued about, but what you've been eyeballing.

I fired one of those and it's definitely fun and seems reliable from the little i saw. That said I'm a pump guy and did not consider buying one.

As far as myself I have been very intrigued by the little CMR30. Spent some extensive range time with one and it's a hoot. Very reliable as long as you load the mag correctly.

Pay for an actual Saiga 12.

The Chinese copies are very hit & miss when it comes to quality.

I had one a few years ago that I put a folder, moved the trigger to the correct location…20 round drums are fun.
I second this. Generally speaking I dislike AR style shotguns or any shotgun with a detachable box magazine.

If you must though, PSA is running a sale on a RI VRF-14 right now for $300.

Having a few binary triggers it would be fun mag dumping a 20+ round sg mag 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 , especially with the "dragon's breath" ammo.
I suggest a TS-12 or a KSG25.

And I also suggest not doing a mag dump with Dragon's Breath. In fact I don't suggest using it at all in any shotgun you actually like. One shell puts as much carbon in your barrel as a 25 rd. box of regular shotshells. I do see the utility of them if you want to say, set a house or a car on fire or something, but I would use some old worn out shotgun you don't care too much about. Or just a lit cigarette. ;)

The ts is tooooo ugly and the kgs is a pump. I already have 2 high cap pump sg's. I'm still on the hunt, but most likely I won't be buying either nor the AK style.

Box mag fed shotguns are notoriously unreliable. Especially cheap ones.

Both those shotguns I mentioned as well as the Beretta 1301 have never had failures of any kind. If that sort of thing is important to you.
The m1401 (if that's right) would be ultimate! Most any box fed firearms are less reliable than tube fed. Every mfg has their good and not so good design on function. As some have started "you get what you pay for", well price isn't everything! TT used to be cheaper until Wick series came out. Others have followed suit when used in movies. Well less known have.

M1014. Possibly agreed ( I haven't gotten that one yet, but I will). Followed closely by the Beretta 1301T and maybe that new Mossberg JM Pro.

The other major issue I have with box mag fed shotguns is that capacity is actually less than even basic tube fed shotguns. Unless you want a 20 round mag or drum sticking out of the bottom of your shotgun. That means even assuming all your mags feed properly you are going to be reloading sooner. And what you lose in speed and weight/maneuverability isn't worth the trade off to me.

Of course range toys are different, but I would still want something that runs reliably. No one complains about the Saiga. And I know a few people with the RI VP that like them.

Now an AA12 is a box mag fed shotgun I could get behind.

You will love em. thy are a hoot to shoot.

I have not had one failure with either of these guns and have shot mostly cheap sterling 00 buck through them. the 5, 10 and 21 round drum have fed without a hitch. i had heard a few stories about them too. but mine work. main thing is they are like 308 ar's, keep em wet. and look on Amazon for one of the 3d printed mag loaders. they do make loading them a lot easier.

If I was to get one it would be a RI.

Having fired thousands and thousands of rounds of Sterling 00B and slugs, the one thing I can say for them is they are sized to spec correctly and they fire reliably. The slugs aren't real accurate and the buckshot is not consistent in group size, but it is excellent for training. Beats shooting field loads for sure.

I knew the numbers, but forgot the order.
