Iowa is getting better it seems. I remember when I did the road trip out west a few years back ( from STL to Henry's Fork Idaho) Iowa was the only state I went through that I wasn't happy with the gun laws. I don't remember specifically what it was, but I think without an Iowa CCW you couldn't ( possibly still can't) conceal a handgun in your car.

Good commentary that you should know the gun laws in the states you travel through.
I do extensive research before I travel and also most importantly work very hard not to draw attention to myself.

What keystone1925 says, before traveling I check gun laws in states traveled and stay very aware of surroundings and not draw attention to myself.

It is great that they are doing this. As bassbob stated , surprised it wasn't already in the constitution.

I stick to the interstates and never stop when I have to go thru Illinois, between Iowa to Indiana, & coming back again.

I don't go through Illinois. And if I have to I hit the 2 bridges down there where Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky state lines are all within a couple miles of each other. I am literally in Illinois for less than 2 minutes.

I make it a point to only go through gun friendly states if I can help it.

I too travel thru Illinois often and assumed I had to have my carry emptied and locked while doing so. I was surprised to read, per the USA Carry website, that anyone can travel through Illinois with their loaded CCW in the vehicle as long as they have a CCW license from their home state.

Yep, that's my new understanding the last year or so ... to my surprise.

It's Nov. 8 and I voted "Yes" meaning we should adopt the amendment

As of RIGHT NOW it is overwhelmingly passing with over 60% saying YES.
