But I did buy a handgun in a grocery store when we moved to AZ.

When I was a little shiet in late 50's hardware stores sold all types of firearms. Don't know if they had FFL's Kinda doubt it.

I’m so old I remember going in the local grocery store to .22’s or shot shells. Started doing it when I was about 11. .22 shorts were like .29 a box, while LR’s were .46, so I shot a lot old.22 short in my little Winchester 69. ( and this was in ILLINOIS)
