There's pros and cons to each configuration, to every material and construct. Meshing these concerns with their driving force is what really matters.

I use both and in both cases I lock the urbancarry lockleather. I won't use a holster that doesn't have a locking system and I have used many kydex, I prefer leather. I have many more holsters that I don't use anymore, and I wouldn't dare tell my wife how much money is hidden away. That said everything I do carry from time to time has a lockleather.
