Jackson, MS suspends Open Carry.......

Yeah, that mayor can do all he wants, but as the state AG says - he lacks the authority to override a state constitutional amendment.

I don't think the folks doing drive by shootings are paying attention to legal carry of legally obtained weapons. It's always the law abiding citizens who the politicians go after.
 
Mayors try this stuff all the time. Not firearm related but here in Myrtle Beach, SC the mayor a couple of years ago tried to make motorcycle riders wear helmets. He issued tickets and court appearances. The state constitution allows riders to go without a helmet. He lost the fight and wound up refund a lot of money. Localities can not preempt state laws and that goes for local HOA's also.

As an aside Horry County in SC just declared itself a sanctuary county for gun owners exempt from any anti gun laws even though SC is very gun friendly. We are hoping It starts a trend in SC.

The AG needs to a stop being polite and do her 🤬 job. Sue the mayor and demand an immediate injunction.
@jmcd you said the AG has the authority to override a constitutional law. Can you expound on that?

Hopefully it starts the trend nationwide. National constitutional carry. National gun sanctuary free of democratic anti gun laws.

You're right and that is the problem. He is the Governor. He shouldn't have to stand up to her.
