Just Damn

What does one do when there’s more than one threat? Just when I am ready to set aside my AR for Home Defense argument, something like this comes along.

Man killed trying to defend home during alleged invasion: North Carolina authorities

Depending on his shotgun, you would think that would be enough, even for 3, unless he had a double barrel.

Wonder the shells used also, because the perp took a shotgun blast to the abdomen and survived …

Sadly, there are no guarantees in combatives. People die with the best equipment and training, people live with crap equipment and no training.

Luck, both good and bad, unfortunately, will always play a part. All we can do, is prepare the best we can.
Should watch more of “the man with no name” … aka .. “Blondie” (good, bad ugly) … or Josey Wales

Look at the eyes.. shoot the non scared one first 😉🧐😁

Like mentioned nothing was mentioned about what load he had so I’m presuming it wasn’t an effective load (I interview an inmate within the Federal system that took 9 pellets of a 12 ga 00 buck and lived so there could be that lucky factor)

And if the home occupants were held at gunpoint sounds like they were really behind the power curve so in that case it wouldn’t matter what you had a little late!

Also even if you see it coming Handgun Rifle it doesn’t matter as Wayne Dobbs says your gonna run out of time before you run out of bullets in about any defensive encounter let alone with multiple assailants

You start throwing rounds when they don’t expect it they are gonna scatter short of some sanctioned cartel hit if you are in that time!

Yeah, I would've thought that 4 or 5 rounds of 000 Buckshot would work in that situation. Maybe they weren't close together as a group. Reloading in that situation could get hairy.. I assume that the OP's point is that the AR has quite a bit more ammo capacity, which is true, but one well-placed 12 gauge shot at close range is worth five .223 shots, IMHO. Empty the scatter gun, draw your handgun. That's all I've got.
