Ok so I’ll admit I don’t have any knowledge on Biden’s VP pick other then that she is a democrat. It’s obvious we are in trouble if the Democrats take over the White House (that is a given) however just how much trouble is still up in the air and I wonder if we are creating our own “Hyperbole” nightmare by overthinking what will be done and how quickly. I will say President Trump has been a great President but he REALLY needs to just “STOP TALKING”

I talk with family and friends about this all the time.
What comes up, is that most of America is hooked on the smart phones, constantly connected social media wise and always talking in a personal context rather than group thought. The “all about me effect”. I think lots of Americans like his style and name calling. I for one do not. Remember that newspapers, and all other printed or video content is meant for an average thought process on a 6th grade level. He is not catering to the educated minority, he is catering to the masses. If you look at lots of social media “influencers”, they talk and act just like him on social media with their words.
I, nor my family are that way, but when you view facebook, twitter, etc as a whole, there are masses that act and talk that way.

She flip-flops, and is about as malleable as Biden when it comes to policy. Party says jump, she says "how high?". When Biden was accused of sexual harassment, she was extremely vocal about supporting the accusers, she "believed them" and was "proud of them for coming forward" and "they must be heard and believed"...but now she's his running mate. She vocally opposes the 2A. But basically...she'll be for (or against) whatever The Party tells her to, because her driving force is a lust for power. Not policy, or results...but power.

Attempting to ban further sales and making changes to mag capacity is one thing, taking away currently owned firearms I believe will be very difficult.

Difficult in implementation sure. Not so difficult to pass a law that makes millions of gun owners into criminals for non compliance.

Also , don't forget that he has said we don't need those semi automatic 9MMs either. He wants to do away with the 9's. If he wants to do away with the semi automatic 9's , why wouldn't he want to get the .45's , the .40's , the 10mm's , and even the .380's ?
We also need to remember that several decades ago the anti-gunners started out wanting to ban handguns. Handgun control Inc. ring any bells for you folks from back around 1980 ?
Some have called it "hyperbole " but the fact remains the only reason it hasn't been worse for us gun owners is because of the fight we have put forth. However , the second amendment says we shouldn't have to be fighting over our right. It shouldn't even be coming up!

A number of people seem to have taken issue with my use of "hyperbole." I'm not going to go after your points since that would only lead to a fight and bad blood which is not good for a forum like this one. I'll say again, the post I referred to has since been deleted so you don't have context. My point, though, stands. Extreme claims about what the other side is going to do and what they want are nothing but destructive. Things like "my opponent wants to take away all your freedoms/guns/bible" do no good whatsoever, just like "my opponent wants to destroy the environment and give your life savings to his billionaire friends." It's pure nonsense and only hurts us.
As I assume most of us know, Democrats and Republicans are both Americans and all live in the same country. We largely want the same general things, such as prosperity, a roof over our heads, food in our bellies, a good life for our children, a safe and clean place to live, good jobs, etc. What we disagree on is how to get there, and that disagreement doesn't mean we hate the other guy or are trying to destroy them. Creating this narrative where someone who disagrees with us is therefore out to destroy everything we love prevents us from finding common ground. If we really want to be a great country we need to be united, not a bunch of factions at each others' throats. The language we choose is a big part of that.
My job is 100% dedicated to advocacy, communication, and resolving conflicts between adverse parties. The absolute worst thing to happen is one party to dig in and start throwing bombs at the other party. It makes my job fun, since I love a good fight, but it screws up the process something fierce. If we as gun owners want to find any common ground with people who hate guns for whatever reason (generally, it's been ignorance in my experience), the first thing we need to do is stop acting like the other side is out to destroy us. Stop acting like they are demons and invite them into the fold and they might start to see guns as nonthreatening and not see us as a bunch of backwards crazies. I've found calm and respectful dialogue, along with taking someone out to try shooting, has changed a few minds. Yelling and accusing them of trying to destroy my freedom would only reinforce the image of gun owners as dangerous idiots. There is no hope of ever changing minds that way.
On a broader scale, we as an entire nation need to stop behaving like spoiled children in how we deal with each other. Name calling, attacks on character, exaggeration, willful ignorance, fear mongering, and outright lies are the province of children. We as adults should be ashamed if we reward or enable such conduct. I call out hyperbole and other bad behavior because I want to see us all act like flipping adults. Stop rewarding Sean Hannity and Racheal Maddow for their schticks. Elevate our discourse, respect opposing views, approach things using facts not raw emotion, acknowledge we don't know everything, etc. That makes us able to have reasoned conversations with people we disagree with and greatly increases the chances of coming to some common ground instead of mean-spirited gridlock. That brings me back to my earlier comment, that today is a good day to stop with hyperbole and scare tactics. Look at facts and evidence instead of appealing to emotion.

I try to avoid arguments, but instead offer a different point of view for consideration to further the discussion.
In the same vein of using hyperbole, I've long begged for a "sarcasm font." Apparently I'm not nearly as witty as I think I am in print (or otherwise).
