3 months ago I wanted to sell 2 Kimber LW 1911's. One was a 45 ACP and the other was a 9mm. My friend said he wanted them and I said $1000 makes you the proud owner. Time has gone by and he says he still wants them but has not given me a dime. Today I told him money by Monday or they are going bye bye. Now his feelings are hurt and I really don't care. Thank god I didn't let him take them "home" as he wanted to do- that would have been ugly. I think I have been more than patient with him. If I don't see all the money i'm moving on.

i have a personal interest in this..

i have a buddy, much younger than me, in fact, i think of him as one of my son's, who just happens to like guns.

i had a Remington R 1911, my 1st 1911.

he shot it a few times, and fell in love with it.

so i knew his job situation, and his salary/pay schedule (every 2 weeks)

i sold him that 1911 for like $400.

he has rent to pay, and other bills to pay.

i waited.

took him about 1 month to come up with the money.

i kept my word to him, it was his, as soon as he can pay me.

in my situation, i was in no hurry to unload the gun.

i cannot say your situation, but, "crap happens" when we least expect it, like for me, last week, a $300 plumbing bill.....

and i had already paid for new gun, being shipped to me......which now, i had to take out the money from someplace else.

i'd at least ask "your friend", if he still has an interest in maybe 1 gun at this time.....???

1 sale is better than no sale, then you can do as you need for the other one.

i know how tough it is when the "crap hits the fan" and people are up against the wall, with a "promise"

you may not know all his problems with cash right now....

jus' sayin'............

He is retired military. Does not have a family. He went on vacation and just picked up a 4 wheeler.
at least now, we all know the circumstances. compared to what i outlaid about my buddy, that buddy of yours, gots the money.

then, he's maybe not too serious about the gun(s).

coulda been one of those spur of the moment thoughts he had.

don't be too surprised if he went and bought new ones, rather than to buy your used.

now i'd say, give him a chance to make up his mind, that you have another buyer waiting.

Well, sold the both of them this afternoon. Will go to LGS tomorrow to do paperwork, a NICS check is required in this state even for a private sale. Buyer is a city cop here so I want to go by the book!

Got pictures. Do they have the Swartz safety? Asking for a friend…

Never mind, just saw the previous post. My friend is going to be disappointed.

i too have a KImber, the Custom II tone

it of course does have that Schwartz safety, but i find it to be of no issue.
I have found that if my hand is not just so, the Swartz safety catches. I’ve had it happen more than a few times.

Gots to hold it like this, yo.
