Here's a list from 2020 of the states with the least and most gun friendly states.

How does your state stack up?

Has anyone thought of moving to a more gun friendly state and if so what's keeping you where you are currently.

I moved from the highly 2A restricted Massachusetts a 2 years ago where I lived most of my life to New Hampshire which is in the top 5 least 2A restricted states in the country and I haven't looked back with any regrets.

I still work primarily in Massachusetts as the company I work for is based there plus I'm only 15mins from the border so it's not really a long distance to work.

Nebraska and Iowa were quite a surprise, to me. Wonder if its the job angle, or 2A hang ups??

The amount of gunlaws on the books can be alarming but even looking at NH the author notes that the guns laws on the books here aren't really restrictive.

NH is great and the only restriction I know of here is it's illegal to have a loaded long gun in a moving vehicle. Loaded in NH means a round in the chamber. A long gun here can have a mag in the rifle but not be considered loaded hence the lesser restriction. Still a restriction though.

I can't think of any gun restrictions in this state that aren't strictly federal. And with the passage of SAPA a good chunk of those are irrelevant. Mostly. ;)
 
I don't think the number/amount of firearms industry jobs has much to do with that ranking.

In another article they had my state right up to the front based on our lack of restrictive laws & the amount of firearms ownership per captia since I think those are a better indicators.

I'm not sure firearms ownership per capita is necessarily indicative of particularly gun friendly state governments. I mean someplace like Alaska probably has close to 100% gun ownership per capita.

Let's take the earlier example of New Hampshire. Where you cannot have a loaded long gun in a moving vehicle. There is no such law in my state and many others who ranked lower on the list. I think a truly accurate list would involve a lot more research than whoever wrote this list did.

I think there's alot of variables to consider. I think most know which states are "freerer" than others.

But there can be some other factors such as when I lived back east in one state you couldn't carryu a hunting firearm in the woods until a few days before & after hunting season, whereas in my state there's no such restriction. You can go out every day with a rifle if you choose to, especially since we have wilder conditions and the risk of bumping into large carnivores.

I should have looked more closely at the article before posting because now I'm thinking the authors intent was to show firearms related job industry more than 2A rights.

Possibly, possibly not? There's a lot of things to measure and decode, they can change almost daily. Is still a good article for comparables. Not an easy task to keep up on or straight for anyone. Most have some sort of bearing though. Some states like CA, NY and others where there's high gun count or manufacturing can be off on some info. Like the in the April 2021 info, how many things have changed in just a few short months? Quite a few if thought about?

But taken in the right context, still informative in a broad sense..

This one is even outdated as of now. For instance Texas laws have changed dramatically. We are now CC compared to April where we were permitted carry only. But if I may note at least this one looks far more trustworthy sense the grammar and spelling isn’t completely off like the one @10mmLife posted.
