Leupold’s New DeltaPoint

This looks pretty darn interesting...definitely a different design.

All those that talk about co witnessing just threw up in their mouth...

If the battery compartment pivoted out of the way or removed in another fashion then maybe more useful? For those who don't clean their guns it would serve them.

Speaking of - I recently bought a Saint and stuck a Romeo 5 on it which has an absolute co-witness and as soon as I saw it I had an Ah-Hah moment. I certainly see how people who have been used to it on their rifles want it on their pistols.

I love the Romeo 5. I have them on two shotguns and an AR and I have another one laying around waiting for my next shotgun.

Firing pin removal for more detailed cleaning.
That’s more of a detail strip than anything...and, let’s be honest; it’s something that very few gun owners do, and, is something that is rarely TRULY necessary.

But, in order to do it...it may be necessary to remove the sight. Or, possibly with the battery compartment removed, there’s room to remove the backplate and pull the components out.

Really...that’s much ado about nothing.

If it can be removed by only taking off the battery compartment, then great! I would be a terrible design if you had to remove the sight to do it.

For myself if I had a choice between the Delta or a meprolight I'm taking the mepro all day. I've used one and they work very well. Had I not just purchased my tfx pro night sights I would have preferred the mepro. The mepro you remove your front sight.

I was not impressed with them on the Sig 365SAS I briefly had. Seems that the QC on them isn’t great, and they can be off (when the dot was centered, mine shot 4-5” right at 5 yards...confirmed by multiple shooters off a rest)...and there is no way to adjust them.

Well that sucks it was so far off. The one I shot was spot on out to about 50yrds.(I never tried longer) I was very skeptical that I would like it or that it would be anywhere close to accurate. I have heard that the QC was a bit lax in the beginning. I'll be completely honest I'm a iron sight type of guy. I've had a couple of heads up display holosite types and from time to time I've lost the dot and needed to search for it. That in itself turned me off of them for handguns self defense. The newer smaller may work much better in that respect.

Here's another article from "Gun Talk" on this product. As for detailed maintenance of the firing pin etc., you can see from the articles excerpt below that the sight must be removed:

"One drawback that I noticed was the fact that if you want to do any maintenance on your firearm that requires the firing pin to be removed the sight must come off the gun. Any time I take a sight off a gun I reconfirm zero. This is a slight concern since I rarely completely disassemble my firearms."

Overall, this review was very positive and there is a video linked at the end of the article that's linked below:

I actually have the Leupold Delta Pro. I was going to put it on my Kriss V, but decided to go with EOTech. Now I want to mount it on my TRP, but I’m finding it difficult to find a base for it. Short of sending my slide to have it milled, does anyone know of a base that would work with the TRP Operator 6” longslide?

I ordered it for my Glock 42. It looks like a great idea to me and the few reviewers that have received them rave about how easy they are to use. As I see it, having to remove it to work on or clean the firing pin is no worse than an RMR requiring removal to change the battery. In fact it is probably a less frequent event. the biggest challenge I see it it may not be possible to pre-zero with an external bore sight if it's body protrudes too high above the barrel axis. I'm pretty sure my green laser magnetic attach one has a collar that is higher than the top of the barrel.

let us know how it goes @barjohn. Plus, benefit for me is I don’t have to get a Glock just to try it out :).
