I forgot about my .22 Henry.
The original Henry was game changing when it came out. You could load 17 cartridges and fire away. Unfortunately it came in .44 rimfire, didn't have a side loading gate, wooden forearm, had an exposed magazine and the follower would catch on your support hand if you weren't careful. It gets really hot shooting smokeless and if you shoot black powder, you better wear a glove. Yes they are cool, but the Yellowboy came out to address the shortcomings of those trailblazers. It also came out in .44 rimfire, but eventually developed a centerfire cartridge at the end of its life. In the chain of evolution, the 1873 addressed several shortcomings of the Yellowboy.
Today you can buy near replicas, but in popular cartridges.
