lever fun!

I forgot about my .22 Henry.
The original Henry was game changing when it came out. You could load 17 cartridges and fire away. Unfortunately it came in .44 rimfire, didn't have a side loading gate, wooden forearm, had an exposed magazine and the follower would catch on your support hand if you weren't careful. It gets really hot shooting smokeless and if you shoot black powder, you better wear a glove. Yes they are cool, but the Yellowboy came out to address the shortcomings of those trailblazers. It also came out in .44 rimfire, but eventually developed a centerfire cartridge at the end of its life. In the chain of evolution, the 1873 addressed several shortcomings of the Yellowboy.
Today you can buy near replicas, but in popular cartridges.

I like lever actions so much I’d be good if that’s all I had. Rocking a Marlin 1894c 357 and 336 30-30 the 336 has a ghost ring apature

As far as tactical like everything everyone can do whatever but for me the Marlin and others with the military type apathetic or Ghoats ring and maybe a rail is fine. The decked out with the M Lock and other “tactical” hand guards and such a lot over the top for my taste

But if that’s your thing you do you!

I’ve made it no secret that I love my tactical Big Boy X it looks crazy good and fires equally well, but my classic Henry Big Boy with brass receiver and 20in octagonal barrel shoots just as well with a peep sight and fiber optic front sight. They are both awesome and I can’t wait to add to my collection. I’ve probably got another tactical build in 30-30 on the cards and I can’t stop salivating over the New Henry Original in ,45 Colt.

And whatever you may think about lever guns, when you break them out at an AR heavy shoot everyone wants to have a look at the Henrys.
I am eyeing the Original in .45 also. I feel the wife would like to purchase for my Christmas present ;)
