SAINT
i went to my LGS this morning. they got a big shipment of Glocks, I have had my mind set to buy a .357

they did have the G31 and the G32....

but no Sig .357 ammo, in more than the expensive 20 round boxes of hollow points.

so why bother, they have no idea on when the Sig.357 ammo will arrive.

well, when you first walk in, there is a 1911 showcase....Dan Wessons (i already have 2), and further down that display case, Kimber's.

sheesh, i really needed another 1911. and besides that, i did not have THAT specific serial number either...

so i got the Kimber Custom II, 2 tone. (.45 ACP)

sold for less than retail. last year, during the panic buying, ALL guns were going for full retail.

took it home, stripped it, cleaned it, lubed it, not that it needed it, the gun was perfect as it was.

i also called KImber customer service to ask the build date, the gal told me it was built July 3rd, 2021

(i keep a log book on these details)

it came with only one, 7 rnd mag.

i had 4 brand new W/C 8 rnd mags waiting here for it..

i just gotta wait almost 6 more days, before i can get to either the range or the club.......dang it.

I believe all the Kimbers with a II in the title have the Swartz Safety. I have a Pro Carry II and it has it.
Yea, all Kimber 1911’s have the Swartz safety, doesn’t effect the trigger pull, just makes disassemble and reassemble a little more tricky

Nice I like the two tone a lot not to loud perfect touch

My LGS has a couple of those in stock...i'm waiting for them to get a Ronin in so i can compare them side by side. You have both ? Whats your thoughts ?
i love them both. right now, i haven't even shot the Kimber, that's still a few days away, thanks to all the BS around the house right now, and doctor appointments, and contractors coming over...sheesh.....

(retirement sucks, i'm always busy, more then when i was working...!!!)

they look similar. except the Ronin has a black MSH, this one is silver.

i am thinking of replacing the Kimber's MSH, cuz it is that plastic material, and i'd rather have all metal. i changed out ALL my 1911's that came with a plastic MSH. believe it or not, my cheaper Tisias, and RIA, came with metal MSH's...!!

so now too, i have a choice, buy another silver one, or a black one, then it'll be a perfect "twin" to the Ronin.

i love the 1911 platform, in .45 ACP, even with the 8 rnd mags, as opposed to say a 17 rnd mag for a CCW.

none of my 1911's will be for any CCW duty, they are all range bound.

you will not be disappointed with a Ronin, now i can see, i will not be disappointed with this new Kimber either.

why is the picture dated 1/10/21?
somethings fishy here if you just got......
I used to write dates that way.....
i dunno....the choices of setting up the time stamp do not allow for month, day, and year, like normal people use.

so it allows for the day, then the month, then the year....

made by the J.A. Pan company.....

OM: has it got that extra safety thingy (ser 80) ?
I believe all the Kimbers with a II in the title have the Swartz Safety. I have a Pro Carry II and it has it.

yes, it does have that "Schwartz safety" set up.

i rarely ever take down any 1911, beyond a field strip, at this point and time,.........maybe not at all.

i clean all my guns after every range visit, whether i shoot 25 rnds, or 200 that day.

i never let my gun(s) go back into the storage cabinet dirty.

You don’t really have to worry about it unless you change the rear sight. There is a spring that is part of the Swartz safety that is held captive under the rear sight. This is probably why the sights are so bleeping hard to swap out!

Lol...Thats what my Dad says. He has been retired for 10 yrs and says he dosnt know how he ever had time to work.. My 1911s are range toys too.. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on both. The plastic MSH on the Kimbers, and the plastic trigger on the Ronins...neither makes sense to me. I'm leaning towards the Kimber because the one i have was 100% reliable and dead on accurate right out of the box. But like the grips, the Blueing on the slide, and the fact the frame is not cast on the Ronin.

Oh..and the Ronin is series 70, and i currently only own 1 Springfield, me EDC is an XD, so buying the Ronin will make me feel more a part of the family..:)
