Long Awaited Shiloh Sharps .45-70 Arrived

I left on a nice road trip a few weeks ago and, of course, I got a call from the LGS and my long-awaited Shiloh Sharps in .45-70. They had some fun with me by mocking up a suppressor and saying I owed them for threading the octagon barrel. Good fun! Anyway, I got home and mounted the Montana Vintage Arms scope. I've been over this thing with the proverbial fine-tooth comb and can find no flaws.

Now, I've got to get to the range and try to zero it in.

Very nice!

Always wanted to get a Shiloh but the long wait times were always a deterrent.

When I'm traveling over to the eastern part of the state I always stop at the Shiloh Sharps facility in Big Timber to drool over the extras they have. They never had the configuration I like, but 25 yrs ago I ended up getting a .45/70 Browning BPCR just before they discontinued that model.

I also, have Browning 1885 Hi Wall in 30/06.

Not mine but the same except I have a Redfield scope on it.

That's incredible. What's the accurate range for something like that.
When I was talking with Cheryl at Montana Vintage Arms, she said this piece is capable of reaching out to 1000 yards. Too bad I'm not capable of that kind of accuracy. I shot expert just off of Chicken Road at beautiful Fort Bragg but that was 54 years ago. A lot has happened since then, especially with my eyes!

Ill bet you can still knock the azz off a gnat at a 1000 yards with that beauty. So long as the gnat is in the correct spot when the bullet gets there. That truly is a beautiful piece of work. Enjoy!
