This is why the "Founders" established the Electoral College.

Looks like a mandate to me.

electoral college could imo use some tweaking
only let states have 1 vote,
who ever wins popular vote gets the 1 vote from the state , no splitting it out...win or loose no other category

its almost to the point that 6 or 7 states control the entire country in electoral votes

While the red vastly outnumbers blue, bear in mind that they contain almost half of our nations voters. If it wasn't for the Electoral College, California, New York and other extremely liberal, heavily populated states would be picking our President regardless of what the rest of the country thinks.

I notice that there's only three blue counties in Tennessee. Memphis and Nashville I expected. But how the Hell did Haywood County end up in there? Its mostly farm land with only one city of any size in there and its only about 10,000 people.

i get that. and want the electoral college to remain.
i was musing why some states get 50 and some get 5 and some get 30 , it seems the more people they have the more votes they get in my Opinion the states vote for the person and the person that wins the state..get one vote for the electoral college, no votes per district...just one for the whole state..
look at the list in the link i posted... each state is not one vote
ca has 54 , while others only get 4
that not equal representation.

Look at Illinois, perfect example. The top northeastern part controls the entire state. With what 13 million total, 9-10 million live in that NE part. Our entire state could entirely vote the other way and not out vote that northeastern part.
That's been the Dems strategy for decades.

If you wanted to straighten things out then a system whereas in order to pass a state law then the largest number of a state's counties would have to certify the law.

A state's electoral votes are determined by the number of congressional seats plus two senatorial seats. California lost several congressional seats in the last census due to escaping population.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Hi,

It seems the Founding Fathers did not want the more populous regions of the country to "bully" the rest of the nation. Here's more reading on the electoral college and the "fix" brought about by the 12th Amendment.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Canada has no electoral college. Once eastern Canada has voted, nothing else counts. It's a miserable thing. Western provinces have been leaning towards separating for years. The current government mirrors our (US) current (IMHO). I am grateful to be a citizen of a country that has more respect for its citizens than that. Can't let them take that away.

One lousy blue county east of the Cascades in Eastern WA and that would be Whitman County. Some of it is due to a sort of democrat farmer labor party attitude but the big reason is Wash. State University. Watch out for ever encroaching big university expansion with annexes in Red cities/counties. It can be a killer.

Hey Chief can't say I 100% agree but the right guy won both the popular vote and the electoral vote this time. Quick question; were you in naval air.

yes right person won,
my over simplified version gives each state equal value in voter units.. as it is
the way the numbers are now, it could be that 6 or 7 states decide the entire countries direction.
i like equal protection. i want my vote in texas to count the same as the guy or girl in alaska or al etc
